There, that's better! A little sideways, I'm turning this room upside down, and a little sideways even!

I never get anything new(it's either used or abused, JK! LOL) I don't even know how to do an unboxing in order. A backwards unboxing anyone?

Midas L10 rack showed up.
Second pair of EQP5s as well and a bunch of opamps from CAPI to do some fun tests and different output transformers for the EQs.

My wife got me a little Weller soldering station for Christmas. All right, ragan! I’m on my way! Not sure when I’m going to find time for this, but hey, it’s a first step!

Oh I also helped move in a brand new Audient ASP8024 32CH console into the community college I went to early on in life. Sweet console. Can't wait to try it out.

I just realized that Cubase doesn't have any noise removal plugins! You have to buy WaveLab for that from Steinberg.
So I got iZotope Elements Suite for $49 which includes RX, Neutron, Ozone, and Nectar, and Plugin Boutique gave me some AAS instrument players for free too. A bad rhodes, a fake guitar, and a good virtual analog synthesizer.
Anyway I'm really happy with the RX Elements de-noising plugins.
I used the Nectar Elements voice plugin too, and it did "improve" my vocal sound in the mix. It's subtle stuff but it adds up.
I've got huge haul of real top class gear coming in January that I will hopefully be able to report on soon. These plugins are just a new years boost. A lot of the stuff I ordered is on back order from manufacturers.

Big fun one today, I got some locking tuners for my #1 Fender Strat that I've had since 16. Ok not so big fun one. But now I can play that guitar again, it doesn't need anything. When a guitar "needs something" I usually don't bother playing it, just pick up something else for a while.
Playing a Stratocaster after several months off feels bizarre and strange. I guess I really have grown used to other kinds of guitars.

That happens to me on a daily basis, switching from the 1 11/16 nut of my Martin D-15M (Maybelle) to the 1 3/4 on my Roy Noble (Taja). They are like two completely different lovers, both incredible though offering different paths to ecstasy. It takes me a little longer through tentative steps to feel completely at ease and mindless with Taja although she has been longer at my side, since '92. I guess I really have grown used to other kinds of guitars. I grew up playing a LP and a Strat. Then I got a tele and only played that for years. Trying to switch back to the strat always drove me nuts as the middle pickup always seems to get in my way. So I eventually said screw it - turned it into a Coodercaster and all is good in the world again for me! Well, in guitar world anyway hah

Just installed this new Midas DM16 mixer. I was a little bit surprised, it sounds WAY better than my old Mackie 1202 VLZ4. Like, "I didn't know what I was missing." The EQ is actually usable, and the preamps are very clear and clean. This is for my digital piano and synth keyboards primarily. But it sounds good enough I could see more uses for it. Some of the cables are in the way of my monitors, I will have to fix that. This is about as big as I can have here. It's an upgrade from the 1202 which was running out of inputs!

As I was told when I first commented on how good an XL4 sounded “It’s a Midas everything it touches sounds like gold” I was a little surprised about that because this is the "cheap" version of a Midas board. I guess this is in the category of new Midas/KT/Behringer gear that is stupidly good for the money, you get more than you used to pay for.

Well I had told myself I'd never own another Les Paul. What did I know. She's nice and light with a thin neck. A standard from 2008.
