I contacted Shannon a few months ago and he responded to then disappear again. Such a sad story. A great talent. I am sorry for everyone who lost their mics too. Oh wow...that's interesting.

At this point I think we need to say our prayers for Dave Wheelers health each and every night. I wasn't aware that Dave Wheeler had health problems. Sorry to hear that. He did right by me, and I truly appreciate it.

Dave moved to NC to work with Heiserman. And him doing that for people was several years ago and just out of him trying to help people out. Unfortunately, I think any hope of people getting mics back are long gone.

AFAIK somewhat similar situation... With people who left their microphones with a certain "Tony".
Who used to work alongside the Late/Great Stephen Paul. Although drug use may not have been a factor. Chris P.S. Unless it were Klaus, who is-of course- of the highest character... I don't have enough patience, to wait for lengthy time periods of repair/modding.

That’s the problem, we are going to need somebody, I had a couple of guys suggest I take a deep dive into it but trying to explain that someone with more than 7 fully functioning fingers might be nice.

Unfortunately, I think any hope of people getting mics back are long gone. I didn't realize Dave had moved. That's too bad for Nashville, but good for Heiserman. There aren't nearly enough good techs around. I wonder who is taking care of all of Blackbird's mics these days.

Richard Land @ Land Audio. He did some tricky work for me on an old C-460-B and it was flawless. Super nice guy, very reliable, and as I recall his prices were totally fair. He's in Nashville. Highly recommended. And he does work on mics other than AKGs. www.akgmicrepair.com/-09

On each hand? Years ago I did see a couple of 6 toed cats in Big Sur, that descended from Papa Hemmingway's kitty ownership! Of course their tech knowledge was a stretch at best. Other than scratch tracks. Chris

Dave was able to get my Charter Oaks S600's back to me after 3 or 4 years. My understanding was that Shannon's House was being sold and his girlfriend reached out to Dave. He got the mics that he could salvage and mine was in the lot. They were missing pieces that I had to pay Dave to replace but I was happy to get them back.

People who sought out a fetish item (1 micron capsule) got burned. People who sought out a magicke mang got hosed and got their mics stolen. Folks who went with a long bearded mountain man got led on a primrose path to nowhere. Down with the mystery of mic repair. Down with cult mic mod pursuits.

colepicksvintage.com/pages/repairsCole is your guy for D12 repairs. Richard Land is also a great person to work with, if you have an AKG microphone he knows his way around it. I've not had a negative experience with Preston, Cole or Richard.

The problem with "walking on water" is that when you make a slip you fall in.
