so the 1073eq was removed as well, and I asked Collin why, he said they're just out of stock right now. I expect the same for the compressor. A lot of people sitting at home with time on their hands the last few months. I guess everyone had the same idea this year.

Damn it looks like these are no longer available? No long listed on AML's site. Sad day, I wanted a pair. Maybe there's a reason? Sent him an email to find out. so the 1073eq was removed as well, and I asked Collin why, he said they're just out of stock right now. I expect the same for the compressor. The ez1073 is on the site: www.audiomaintenance.com/acatalog/kits.htmlOr are you talking about a different kit?

There seems to be a major shortage of grayhill switches. I know CAPI and AML have been having difficulty getting stock.

Grayhill changed their business system to SAP. My sales rep told me they didn’t ship anything for 6 weeks - and the pandemic disruptions were on top of that. Right now they’re at 16-18 weeks for orders. The struggle is real.

Have used the 2254s and did not really connect with them like I was hoping to. Maybe they take time to wrap your ears around.

Have you guys tried the Rupert Neve 535 diode bridge compressor? Not to detract from post, but they were saying they got very close to the 2254 sound with a lot of versatility with this 500 piece. I thought, yeah right, at first. Now I’m thinking it might be something to check out. Do you have one? Your thoughts?
I heard a big difference in the VK video with the comparison.
but to get that big full airy sound you could add a focus II with this 535? Maybe it would get closer?

I have only used 2254s tracking a piano, years ago, so I can't say anything about how close they are. What I CAN say is, these RND ones are absolutely amazing.
A friend has a couple that I have been lucky enough to test out. So great for parallel compressing sub mixes and master buss. I am currently using them on the vox sub mix. Very versatile.
The downside is, when he needs them back, I have to buy a pair myself...

If anyone wants one of the AML 2254's, you could probably persuade me to part with mine. For whatever reason, it doesn't get used as much as I'd like amidst the 40+ other channels of compression. I kinda like pairs....

I still haven't heard back from Collin. Hopefully it is just a shortage of parts. I know it's been hell getting parts these days. That said, the Garsh DB54 looks also quite good. Its a more modified version of the 2254 with more attack and release times and no limiter function just the compressor. It's also very affordable. But you have to source all your own parts and transformers. Still an interesting alternative. Potentially even a better tool. diystudiotoys.com/products/db54-partial-kit

just heard from Collin, indeed it is the switches that are holding them up. Oh well. Will wait.
