I just watched a documentary on Kansas on the Palladia channel and was really surprised by the comments from other rock/pop superstars. I've been listening to them since the 70's but have always thought they were under rated, it's nice to see them get the credit they deserve for their song writing alone. Livgren was a genius.

Shitcheah. Huge fan here.

Carry on is an epic icon of my childhood, the song was instrumental in getting me into playing, it's just as badass today as it was then!

They have too many good songs to mention, The Wall was a really nice piece of work.

I think this is a good example of how (sometimes) the old studio system was a good thing. A band out of a small town in Kansas gets recognized by an A&R guy after inviting him to a showcase in their town. They get signed and record an album. Despite OK sales the label sticks with them and keeps building their brand through back up band touring and radio play. Slowly they go to headlining and make some damn fine songs and have a unique sound. You could easily distinguish Kansas from everybody else.
I know there's stories of how the old label system got things wrong, but this was not one of them.

I like Livgrens solo stuff, a little more progressive than Kansas.

The classic line-up of that band, with Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh was just genius.

Probably my favorite band ever. I was lucky enough to see the original lineup several times in their heyday.
