You want me to mod it or something? Just kiddin homie You can mod it if you buy one. One of my customers actually mounted a switch to the front panel of their Chop Shop to be able to easily switch into Lo-Rider Mode. Pretty cool. Good to see you here baffman! Brad

There's only 2 things needed to make this perfect:
1. Pretend that Toronto is an American city.
2. Make a stereo version of the Chop Shop in a 19" rackmount.
No charge for these brilliant ideas!

I think we can annex Toronto. What does everyone think? Shipping shouldn't be too bad. Who knows...maybe one day there will be a stereo Chop Shop. First there needs to be a stereo Silver Bullet. Brad

Brad Even with screwed up hearing you can hear that this thing is something special. On a female voice I would never use a filter this one didn't make the body disappear ! The guys I demoed wanted to know what Focus would do on stereo material ! The one thing that is important in makeing this thing excell is to use your ears when setting it , not your brain, example for a 60 he hum you think you want to set it above the corner freq of 60hz to maximize the effect.

This is great, I wish I could sign up on that list. When you go international I can help here in Mexico. For the moment, I am still waiting for the Silver Bullet.

Hey Eric! That's great. Hopefully your eyes are working properly at this point. How did you end up setting the filter on the vocals? What I like to do, especially on female vocals, is first use the Focus (usually with Shift engaged) to balance the body of the vocal to the presence. Then I set the Lo-Cut to Bessel response (full CCW) and sweep up until I find the spot where I can just hear the vocal losing bottom end. I back it down a hair from there. You know, I've never tried using Focus on full program material. I bet it would sound pretty good on some material. I do think I have a couple customers that are using the unit for that purpose. Brad

While we're talking "one days" how about a Silver Bullet 50 Caliber Edition with a couple of switchable stereo Color Module slots you fill with whatever floats your boat - tape, pultec boost, etc Who knows what the future might hold. First things first...get the Silver Bullet we've spent the last few years working on out into the world! Brad

Brad You know what ? Unless I'm in a situation doing recall I'm terrible about remembering settings ! I'll tell you this today with clear ears I put it through probably the toughest test I know the dog test! I put a recording of my kid made with my MBHO omni LDC lollipop into one of my Panasonic Ramsa WZAD96m's filtered out a bunch handling noise and had the dogs each barking at the Questeds ! Without the filter they new it wasn't there boy with it they both were trying to find him ! I had to mute before they took out some drivers! I'll admit at first I thought focus was a gimick , the more I play with that knob The more I like it ! Coupled with my Dan Alexander Neve Clones with old irons getting focus just right can make things go from big to huge, the thing is there's no one point that's huge , it's turn that dial till it blows up! It sucks that only big boy boards have variable filters , because anybody recording in a less than ideal situation needs them, so often background noise eats up all your headroom when tracking , if your monitoring isn't full range you don't even notice and the digital filters in your DAW are useless because you have in effect already limited the bit rate of your audio! A good set of filters is your best freinds and honestly the reason in my FOH days the reason I begged for the XL4 or top soundcraft , not the VCAs. The only bad thing is now I'm thinking of putting My Drip Sta Level build on hold to fund one of these ! And that's the kind bad problem I love to Have ! Louder than liftof Joins CAPI , Warm, and Diezengroff as my favorite top drawer affordable brands ! Anybody who records without an LFC and has a 500 rack should have one or more of these !

Hi Eric! That has got to be the most unusual sound test I've ever heard of! I like it. Because the Chop Shops is so transparent it pairs up beautifully with preamps and other EQ's in a way that allows it to extend the functionali9ty of the other boxes. My favorite pairing is with the Kush Audio Electra (big surprise, huh?). It's like Batman and Robin with the combination of those two. Half brothers from another mother. Focus is addictive. It's got to be the most no-brainer single knob tone adjustment I think I've ever used. I think more the half the time when we reach for an equalizer we simply want things more present, or bigger. Focus scratches that itch very well. Other boxes do that sometimes while adding other artifacts and coloration you may not want. I'm happy to mess up your gear buying priorities. We have a new member joining the program. I'd like to welcome lonzob to the festivities. Looking forward to passing this Chop Shop along to you, Lonn. Brad

Today I was visiting a guy who a noisie little room and never used analog filter had the rack in the car cause the guy I wanted to show the chop shop ( has the loudest freakin Pluming and neeeeeeedsss a rack of these was out of town and forgot to call) anyway you would have thought Focus was cold fusion ! Brad you need a rack mount version because some guy just don't get 500 series !

Focus as cold fusion...now that sounds interesting. Care to elaborate? What kind of stuff did you show him? For the rackmount hold-outs there is always a 2-space 500 series rack from A Designs. Brad

It was one of those cases where it really came down to trying to over come poor mic choice, try as he might just could not EQ it out on a couple of things till we started playing with focus, and bam ! There it was the magic he had been chasing ! It just over came the limitations of some Pretty Big Red MXL ! You know it was one of those moments you really try to Aviod, chiseling the rest of a signal chain to compensate for poor choices , but some times it works and this one did, It wasn't like Shannon had rebuilt the mic, but it worked!

Yeah Tony has one! How's my mic coming along? ianvoje is added to the list! Thanks for signing up, Ian. ericn - I know exactly what you mean. That happens to me all the time, hence why I created the Focus circuit on the Chop Shop. So I could give myself an easy way to fix my crap engineering. Brad
