I moved on, but used their Silververb successfully when I first got started 2 1/2 years ago. If you haven't really tried them already, I have a nice surprise for you mrholmes, Logic's compressor are flat out KILLER. I have UAD's compressors, the Waves bundle with a half dozen or more, and a few others, but just scrolling through Logic's 6 different models is a pleasure, one of them is sure to be right. Having deep pockets obviously paid off in this instance.
I've found the CLA 1176 in Waves is perfect for acoustic guitars though, just find the preset and you're good to go, and I don't have to waste UAD DSP power.

Try the Cst Martin you will be surprised not bad. Yes some of the logic compressors work, but most of the time I use the UAD 1176s

<<but just scrolling through Logic's 6 different models is a pleasure, one of them is sure to be right. >> What's particularly nice about the Logic's comps is you can audition them with the push of a button. My ears are not as refined as most of yours, so being able to so easily A/B them is huge.

I agree. I just scroll through, and 90% of the time, one sounds right for the track. Way quicker than loading six different compressors from six different companies. I also have Slate's FG-X, and had A.O.M's Comp/Limiter. The A.O.M.was clearly better than FG-X, so when I compared the Logic compressors, they were even better than the A.O.M. One of them, ( Logic's own compressor, the first one) even sounded quite similar to the A.O.M. So if I wanted that flavor, I have it, and I saved the $88 I would have had to spend to extend my one year license of the A.O.M.
On another note, Slate was two years late with the 64 bit update of the FG-X, so I couldn't use it all that time while in Logic X. They've been working on a 2.0 update to FG-X, so I hope it's something special, otherwise I wasted $200 buying into the infamous Slate hype. That's not to say they suck, they don't, some of their plugs are fantastic, Slate just goes overboard with promises and hype, though he means well.
