So, in the key of G, you have a bottom octave of 49hz, next octave up 98, next is 196, next is 392,783,1567.98,3135.96 and so on. I will take the stock Cubase eq on the send and additive eq the verb in 1-3db increments with a semi narrow Q at those frequency points. It will be apparent which zones you need to deal with more as you get a feel for it and its different with every songs needs. Next I will listen to the melody of the songs. Any 2 chords in the song or harmonies that are singing 2? If not, do the same but use subtractive eq instead. A 2 chord is an A, in the key of G. So, use that chart and you will find all of the A frequencies and duck them a db or 3 with the same fairly sharp but not pointed Q. You are out for smooth and invisible here. I use it very strictly depending on the melody of the song as to what I get rid of. The idea came to me one day and when I tried my theory, it worked and I have made it commonplace here at Slack Key, especially with ballads. I have even made templates in the past that had them already set up and all that I had to do was turn them on or not depending on what the song needed. I hope that helps, Wiz. Let me know how it goes for you. Every DAW will be different, so don't be afraid to over exaggerate the eq and find where you want it to be and back it off to taste. Hi Randgemate, really cool of you to write that up for me. I am going to try this tomorrow, my ears and brain is fried from gigging today, why I play gigs that finish at 2am escapes me.. 8) Thanks again bud cheers Wiz RandgeYou sir... are a genius! cheers Wiz

Thanks Range, I only mentioned it in case it was relevant to your reverb tuning system, which is damn impressive. I'll take a look into that sometime down the road, now you've made me aware of it. Thanks for that, it's really appreciated.
You ever get to NYC?

I have only been to NYC a few times and its been a number of years for me now. It's so loud that I really don't enjoy it much. It would take an impressive studio treatment to seal all of that noise out. It also seems like every time I go there, I have a late night and a crazy early call for the morning shows. The last time I was there was with the Dixie Chicks doing the Today Show. Way too early to be on a stage! 3:45 AM was our stage call. It was brutal, as I had just finished a European tour with another artist and was already exhausted. Consequently, I don't remember much about my last time there.

3:45? That should be against the law.
I gotta laugh, or I'd cry.. I live in a ground floor apartment of a large building. The laundry room is directly below me, so I hear the motors of the washers and dryers, right next to that room are the motors for two elevator systems, when running they have a loud low frequency hum that nothing gets rid of, unless I could decouple the floor! Even then, outside my window is where the garbage is collected, so there's often banging and shouting, and outside my front door is the mailroom with people coming and going, chatting and banging their mailboxes. Pounds of reverb can't fix that unfortunately.
I've surrendered, and am hoping to move, but need to get money to do it. There's low frequency hum on all my vocals when you solo the track, and no high pass filter seems able to eliminate it. It know it sounds terrible, but I'm in the worst apartment location in an expensive, beautiful high end building, built by a famous architect in 1921. It's only a few steps from Riverside Park, so it ain't too shabby. I took the apartment because I was teaching music to kids, and the ground floor gave them easy access.
Anyone using Logic download the new Relab update?

Martin, if you copied your vocal track and used a hi q setting to find isolate just those freq and high db and then phase reversed the duplicate track wouldn't that phase eliminate those freq ?

Tried this yesterday and it definitely changes the sound and depth of the verb. Luckily MDynamicEQ will automatically generate the necessary freqs!! Still more experimentation needed on this end...

Someone lock down this thread before some passer by from GS happens upon it and learns our valuable secrets!! Nah.... they'd just start telling you how they have a degree in physics and that's not possible and whoever posted that is an idiot amateur or something. No reason to worry about those hacks.

I find using it in two or three select frequencies more than the others will give the best results.

Randge, maybe when I'm in Nashville you can walk me through it? I'm a little slow to take on new AE challenges, but enjoy the results when I do.
* Slate Digital is now offering the Relab XL480 reverb. I guess he made a deal with Martin Lind. Too bad that didn't happen earlier on.
I haven't done the upgrade yet, but ill try when I'm in the mood. I like to be ready for complications. If I expect it to be easy, and don't have time to fuss, and it doesn't work, I get really frustrated.

I believe the update has been pulled for now as there was a bug in protools. Martin from Relab is sending me updates to test.
The new install is very simple just download and install;done.
So the user interface has been improved.
Relab is certainly a fine sounding verb !
