I hate advertising for Waves, but there are some good deals, so I'm passing on the info. Go here and grab a code. www.waves.com/lpn/june-2015-coupon-codeCode can be used at sellers like AudioDeluxe.com for better prices too. Knock $50 off these prices and they're pretty smoking! Published prices from Waves, not a reseller (where they're even cheaper)... Waves Tune is $99 right now. Vocal rider is $129. API 2500 is $129. L3 is $129. Bass Rider is $69! DBX 160 is $99.

Got bass rider for $20. Was tempted to get API 550a/b for $30, but I'd rather just build some more CAPI LC53a's

Got me a Bass Rider - now I just have to figure out how to get it to work in Logic.. It's listed in the plug in manager, but as "not authorized." The Waves License Center is weird. I've "authorized" it "successfully" but it seems like there's a handful of different ways to do it. Damn, I may have to do things OTB if I can't figure how to stuff things ITB.
Hmm.. It shows as "activated" at the License Center

Gave in and bought the API2500 since it was also on sale - with the $50 it was only $69 at audiodeluxe Same here. As much as I didn't want to spend the dough, it was too good a deal to pass up. Cheapest I've ever seen it.

Somehow I managed to sign other Waves plugs (that I hadn't purchased) into the manager and it wanted to scan them one by one. So - quick question - where in the chain should I put the rider? I just threw it on the top (before compression, etc.) of a bass track that I had already pretty meticulously automated, and I left the automation on. I'm assuming default is post fader with Logic. I gave it a range of about 9 db of range and the thing went to town - even after my editing (assuming the chain is working the way I think it's working). Pretty amazing. I tried moving it around and liked it best the way I just described it. It sounded better WITH my automation than without, and I found I had to be careful to use it a lot more on the subtractive side because otherwise notes that that I didn't want boosted would get too much treatment. Does that make sense? ..pretty much first thing in the chain? How do others use it? -M
