Nothing hard hitting here, but I think it's pretty cool anyway. Pharrell really has his own sound and here's a little look inside.
Here's Pharrell & OverDoz. working on it in the studio...
Here's the finished product...

Pharrell is ridiculously talented. Such an incredible touch with the funky grooves, and none of it grabbed, it's his own style. Love this track, he should have kept it for himself and sang something more commercial over it.

Something more commercial would have really worked better. I've listened to this song 10 times now and haven't heard the lyrics once.

Except I bet he makes money this way since he can just do the production and walk away to the next gig, and he has points on each. It's not like he's just selling them a beat. He's definitely got some ridiculous harmonic and rhythmic chops going on - he's just doing up super cool voice leading on the fly, and rehearsing his overdubs while tracking other parts or listening to playback.
Anyone else think the choir synth patch was too quiet in the final version?

Anyone else think the choir synth patch was too quiet in the final version? Nope - I absolutely prefer it buried. I found it to be a somewhat lifeless stock-like sample - It would have come across as cheesy to me if I could clearly distinguish it in the mix - but that's definitely a subjective call - maybe if there was some kind of effect on the tail-end..

Everything he uses is a stock sample, that's what's so amazing. He writes and produces the entire track (much like "Happy") from a three octave keyboard controller sitting in front of ProTools. It shows how creativity overshadows so much else. And he is a great drummer which is the cornerstone of his sound and how he builds tracks.

I like it where it is too....or at least not super hot like in the production video.
