Can you tell the difference?
Me neither...Recorded at the same time as close together as possible, level matched through Apollo pres.
They should play back to back

Good Lord...I should listen to these things all the way through before I post. That's quite a nice note at the end...I'm here for your entertainment.
ANYWAY - I can tell a tiny bit of difference - one has a bit more lows than the other...and the other has more top. But jeesh. I'm kinda shocked.

I really like B.
By quite a margin actually.
Need to keep in mind here, both are really excellent.
Be interesting when you reveal which is which,
cheers

what I think i'm learning is the apollo pres are awful? i've heard examples of both of these mics sounding spectacular, but they both sound a bit spitty, siby and zingy in these clips, the MKU47 i built had no zing, sib or spit to it what so ever, so what else but the Appaullo pres could be causing that? that said, if I had to pick one, i'd go with B, but i'd re track with the Heider or Helios in front of it.

I'm going back and forth on which I think sounds "better"

Here's how close they were... those actually don't look that close, you need to get a zoomed view of that plot, you cut it off, but it looks like there is a 10db diff at 12k? that's not close.

Maybe I'm just spitty and zingy...They are definitely mid-forward...Here's the Helios for comparison...less mids, more rich, more bottom
Different take, of course...

Both sound freakin awesome - crazy that they're so close until you get to 12k. I think (and I say this being a Shannon-mod cv4 owner) that the mk 47 tracks sound amazing on their own and in a very sparse mix, but the mod cv4s just sit out in front of a busier mix incredibly well.

Only used the Apollo pres because they were the only pair of the same pre I have...

I'd have to agree with Tony. They look drastically different in many spots especially the top. I have no idea how this software works but it sure would be nice if they were different colors.

Yeah - no shit...I looked it up - don't think there's a way to change the color. You guys are right...I was mainly looking at the mids, but I guess in the grand scheme, even the mids are different enough. I guess I was looking for something dramatically different - but both mics are going to pretty accurately represent the material it's given - I guess the nuances are in those little differences. (Even thought the top isn't that little)...

And btw - if I were tracking my vocal for anything other than a test, I would take out a little 1-3khz. I have an edge on my voice that is freaking painful. Some people may call my voice "un-pleasant"...

Yeah - no shit...I looked it up - don't think there's a way to change the color. Yes, there is...you have to load the first file, change the color to something other than blue (there's multiple color options) before you load the 2nd file...and as you load each additional file, do the same...in your case, since there's just 2 responses, only the first needs the color to be changed before you load the second which will be blue...

Just looking at that graph again - would you really say "drastically" different? I don't look at graphs that often - and maybe that's why it doesn't look that different to me - but the only place I would say was drastic is on the top...

I like your voice, i think you're probably are harder on yourself than anyone else, and even though i want that 47 in my room, i really think it's "your mic" man.

on freq response plots when matching, flat to within .5db is good, 2db diff is drastic, 10db is huge!

I couldn't figure the Skin thing out on the analyzer...Well, I got different skins, but they still had a blue line...I think the different colors might be for the pro version.

Out of curiosity, could you do this with the 84 as well? Or would that be ridiculous?
