Sorry Cowboy , very sad to hear about this . But cowboys are tough and you'll make it through this difficult time and then write some amazing songs in honor of your friend .

Very, very sad. Prayers for Cowboy.
I drove to Indianapolis last Thursday and there was an accident in a construction zone where a car got sandwiched and completely squashed between a stopped car and somebody who just rammed them from behind at a very fast speed. The police were pulling people over en masse as they entered the construction zone trying to remind people to slow down.

Guys, your kind words mean so much to me during this difficult time. We buried Daniel yesterday at 2. I'm still in shock I guess. He and I went to high school together, stayed in touch through college and got back together for our work life in these last years. He was a great family man and humanitarian who will be greatly missed by so many. I woke up in the middle of the night Wednesday and wrote a few words to be read at his funeral. I'll post them here... Who was Daniel Walker? For those of us who knew him, the answer to that question may be different for each or the same to all. But in a word, Daniel was truth. Truth is how I choose to remember him. He lived his life in truth, unafraid of the light. Fearless of those who might cast judgment. A man to be admired by the community which surrounded him, and a volunteer to all who knew him. It has been said, “let a man be judged by the content of his character”. If that is the measure we are to use, Daniel was a man among men. He was a man always willing to sacrifice his own comforts in exchange for the comforts of others. Some would call him a giver, or a great humanitarian. But in truth, he was so much more than that. Daniel Walker was the husband who loved us, the father who hugged us, the brother who came to our need. He was the classmate who encouraged us, the teammate who endured with us, the employee who helped us succeed. He was the co-worker who labored with us, the deep sea diver who inspired us, and the son who always made us proud. Billions of people around the world may never have known Daniel, they would never get to see his smile or hear his laugh, never be touched by the outreach of his humanity, never feel the comfort of knowing a true friend like him. In short, Daniel never changed the world because the world didn’t get the chance to know him. But for those of us who did know him, he truly changed our world and that for the better. And no greater memorial can be made of a man than this. I for one will be forever grateful that I knew Daniel and called him my friend. I am stirred in my spirit to be more like him and seek out truth. Rest in peace my dear brother, and thank you for being my friend. Below is Daniel. God bless you all for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

Cowboy,
Your tribute to Daniel is very moving. He clearly possessed all the traits that seem so rare in current society. A great man for sure.
His legacy is secure in the fact that you, and all others he touched will carry the torch forward with the examples he set. It is my hope that through the grief you'll still be able to celebrate the joy of the gifts his spirit bestowed upon you.

Beautiful words Herb. Beautiful.
Your friend would be moved.
Grief, is THE worst feeling. Take solace wherever you find it, and know we would take the hurt for you if we could,.

Hard working family man who probably rarely thought anything of himself, always keeping others first. That's a real man. Prayers for his family and friends.

In Irish some people would say: Maireann an chraobh ar an bhfál ach ní mhaireann an lámh do chuir. Meaning something like "The branch lives on the hedge even though the hand that planted it died".
Sounds like a great guy, so I'm sorry to hear about your loss CowboyCoalMiner. It's the quality of time you spend with people and not the quantity and while we'd all give you more time together if we could - it sounds like you guys had a blast together. As you keep him in your memories, keep those thoughts with you too. As he lives on through his family and friends, he also lives on through his deeds.

Doing better Keymod, thanks for asking. Still miss my friend everyday. Always will I guess, but some of the sting is gone. The worst part about it for me was I had to try and be strong and supportive for so many people, when in truth, I was the one who probably felt the weakest. Your all's kind words meant a lot to me. Thank you, guys. Mean that.

Glad to read your reply and see you back here. Your strength in a time of trial shows character and I'm sure you were/are a great help to all of those people who went through this trial with you. Hang in there.
