I don't think so. Electrets have a backplate that has a charge on it, similar to a static charge you get when rubbing your feet on carpet on a dry day.
I believe the plates are charged before installation, so the capsule would need to be disassembled to recharge it, if that's possible at all.

The charge lessens over time and nothing can fix it except to install a new capsule. It's better than it used to be though. I have some old 1970's Sony electrets and they have gone dark, forever. It suprizes me Shure is still doing this like they did with the old SM-81. I believe it's a way of saving manufacturing costs. Electrets have limitations with reach, they don't pick up the tiny details at distance a polarized capsule can pick up.

Like JW said its a fact of life with electrets, 70's Sonys are the worst. I got slagged on GS for trying talk a guy out of buying a mid market used Sony MS that I sold tons of buy a guy who was raving about them like they were Schoeps. At least Shure is acting like these are parts that will wear out ! Love Sony mics , but don't buy old ECM C yes ECM NO!

Does the KSM44A have the same type of charged capsule? It is different from the 27/32, but can't find any info on it. I would think it doesn't being a more expensive mic, but you never know.

The KSM44 and 27 are true condensers , so they don't have this problem . shure.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2751/kw/ksm44%20trueSo they don't lose charge and eventually die like an electret .
