Hi, Mark;
John's post prompted me to get off my butt and ask a question I have been curious about for a long time. I own a couple of cheap ribbon mics that I have often thought about modifying. As a DIYer, I've never been afraid to grab the soldering iron and cutters and hack away, but a ribbon is so... delicate! Can you give us some tips from your vast experience on how to handle ribbon motors and the ribbons themselves? Any tricks you have picked up? I'm afraid I will crunch it, or a light breeze, like from just breathing, will cause the ribbon to waft away. Thanks!
Spence

I posted a long reply and lost it. You find info on ribbon replacement on Youtube.
