Are you talking about his shirt? Because the only party this kid is having in a cornfield is with himself...
He performed it live on The Voice tonight. The only thing worse than his performance was his ridiculous shirt.

Oh. Shit. I wasted time listening and waiting for anything enjoyable. I should have known better... Shirt: Donald Duck meets Snake Plissken at the rodeo?

Well, there's a minute and 3 seconds of my life I'll never get back. I didn't watch ..or listen - but I'm still upset because I just wasted a minute and 3 seconds of my life reading and responding to this thread.

This is from another reality, like a Bizarro Country planet, where bone tired, hardworking people drive their tractors at midnight in the moonlight, high on moonshine, and cheerleaders in Daisy Duke's just happen to hang out at the farm next door.
or maybe it's a skit from an upcoming Saturday Night Live..

LOL. Nothing other to do than to laugh at that right there. Maybe like the market crash of 08', we've hit $6,000 with that masterpiece of Bro' Country.

I literally never listen to the radio. Always listening to politics or sports talk. But I turned it on the other night...holy shit. I mean, there are no signs of recovery. I heard a new Cole Swindell song and heard truck, moonlight and girl "the way you're moving" by the end of the first chorus. There is a rewarding of mediocrity right now. The industry is turned on it's head. It seems like moreso than ever before, mediocrity is being celebrated and anything that makes you think - and hey, it that doesn't mean moody slow songs - is poo poo'd. Maybe it's a reflection of society. Heard a new Zac Brown song - you know the guy that made fun of Luke Bryan while counting his money for a hit called, "Chicken Fried" - and it was just horrendous. I might end up deleting this, because honestly, it only hurts me if I express my opinion. Do I want something on radio? Hell yeah I do. I'd love to be able to pay for my kid's education. It's easy for people to write me off as a "complainer" or a "whiner" - and that's upsetting. I don't know what the answer is.

The hard thing is - who can sit in judgement of what "good" is? Hey - these songs are making money - so, you could say that qualifies them as "good" in some manner. It's a subjective business, so who will judge what is good and what isn't. My problem is that the vast majority of it - the collective taste - is bad. Sure - there are some good songs out there - but this isn't the genre I started in 14 years ago. The bar has been tremendously lowered. It has always been "who you know" and "political" - but never like now. The thing that made me wake up and want to write a song was that there was a carrot at the end of the stick - if it was good enough, there was a chance. I don't feel that way anymore.

The only thing I had left was talk radio. Now the local station apparently sold out to K-love Contemp. Christian "network". So, that makes 3 places on the dial that K-love has taken over. I do listen to Contemp. Christian, but I don't want it all to sound the same; which it does now. So I can listen to 1 song and turn it off, cause the next song is going to have the same feel. The Corporate version of Christian music has and I suspect others, has taken over, and that's just sad.... Long Live Indie!

Duke Ellington said "There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind ... ". This is the other kind, really, really bad music, that's all.
John, don't fret, very good music in the country vein is all around us, just not top 40 anymore. I listen to the Apple Americana channel and there's at least one or two killer songs every hour.

There are songs we made fun of in the 70's and 80's while they were getting rich, Air Supply, Barry Manilow, Lover Boy.. same shiite different day. Radio hits make you rich but it doesn't mean you're good.

I've said this before - I'm not saying that these songs shouldn't exist - certainly there's a market for them...I'm just asking for variety...
