I think joey808 works with a Clasp system. Hi Jeff! haven't used it in a quite a while, still no AAX plugin for it, very slow development. |

Can't remember who it was, but I remember someone complaining about clasp the other day, talking about how it never works blah blah. I have no experience with it though.

I was tracking through my atr-700 for ages until it stopped making a noise. similar to clasp in concept except I wasn't using any latency delay. there's a vid going around of how to use latency delay when tracking through tape but I didn't spend a lot of time sorting that out.
to get around the latency issue I would take a digital feed and use that for overdubs.
I would have liked to get a higher tape track count to make it more flexible.

Cobb had/has Clasp. I'm not sure if he uses it or not since he bought the portable Stephens machine.

How hard would it be for a DAW to record assigned analog input(s) to a buffer, then write the audio into the session offset to a pre determined (by tape head gap) latency? Call it "LATCH" You could do it manually now for complete passes. Punches would be a pain. |

you use a latency delay plug. Yup. Brad's had it dialed for years - no clasp. I think Clasp is more elegant, but also a lot more $$$. |
