Hi Wiz,
It's my own board. We did have long discussions with Gregory while developing this project but I want to make it clear that these are not drip boards. If wanted I can upload the layout and board design.
I have invited John to contact Cinemag and Drip's if he has concerns, others have done so and I know that David Geren has replied confirming our dealings and research/development of transformers and end product.
Thanks!!

I hope you didn't think I was implying anything, just I remember you mentioning earlier and association with Drip.. and as I own a Drip LA2A which is killer, I was interested.
cheers
Good Luck with the product

BTW, I have a good client in the US. Mr Keith Morrison. Keith is the owner of Kokopelli SountStudios in Florida and has a few #1 Billboard dance hits. www.keithlanemorrison.com/I built an SA-2A for his business partner in Lima, EOG Producciones, which is one of the finest studios in Peru and Keith requested for me to build a second one for his studio in Miami. I hope this helps. Joshua

This, with the initial warning from bluenoise, is raising some concern. You are an unknown company(to us), that in conjunction with low post numbers throw more red flags, if you can tell us a little of your prior pro audio electronics experience and background? i think it'd go a long way toward building some confidence in the guys here. I see on your site you've been around since 2012? your face book page looks to be from around april 2014? do you have employee's? or is it a one man show? 100 units on pre order, how do you plan to fulfill that many orders in a reasonable time frame if you are on your own? How many of these units have you built already? These are legitimate questions, i'm interested in buying one of these myself as it seems i'd have a very hard time DIYing an LA2A for the price you're offering them, I'd also love to see what ever pics you do have of the insides of ANY of the gear you've built already, surely you have built at least some of these sa-2a already? do you at least have a pic of the pcb you will use? you'd have to expect someone to ask to see some proof of life here... right? I'm not trying to be anything other than thorough for myself and our members here. Thanx for any info 8)

Hi Tony,
All your questions are legitimate and I will do my best to answer them all. I don't have any inside pics right now.
I am not a marketing expert and did not foresee this much interest from consumers in the US, which require much more information in order have confidence to purchase a product from a new brand than my local customers.
I have just sent the PCB to be made and will populate it and make some high resolution pictures 2 weeks from now. I have tons of pictures of old designs back when I use to trade gear without a brand, just making clones for local people and I rather wait a few days and present something appropiate.
I don't have employees but I do have 2 guys that help with building when the units arrive, they are both qualified electronics engineers that have been building for over 15 years. I mount and solder transformers, tubes, T4B's, some capacitors, resistors and calibrate each unit myself in Chile. So it's a 2 step process. This allows me to test them properly. I run a small bunsiness and can't afford to be sending out faulty units, so I take every step that is necessary for this not to happen.
I have delivered over 26 units already of this design with no branding on the faceplate.
I will keep you posted with regards to the pictures !
Thanks,
Joshua

I put a deposit down on one. Hopefully it won't be too long before they're ready! I'll let you all know my thoughts when I get it and test it. For now, I hope Joshua stam keeps posting updates on the build.

Without an estimate, I'm unwilling to take the chance personally. I understand the whole build thing and how time schedules flex, but with a one many company who hand builds and a hundred orders in front of me..... Erm.... Not today. :-)

Hi drbill.
For the first 25 that pre-ordered it will be late May-early June, at this stage I am saying mid june for the next batch. I get all 100 chassis, T4B's and transformers roughly at the same time but I can only work on 3 or 4 units a day. Each takes me roughly 3 hours to solder, calibrate and test. Then I let it burn an entire day in the studio. So the process of getting them out is not super fast. I'll rather take a few more days and havem them last many years.
By the way, would anybody be able to confirm if US residents pay no tax at all when importing a unit ? I know there is no duties due to our free trade agreement and the US does not have VAT. They do have sales tax which is not charged on my side. I would be keen for someone to confirm if sales tax is charged when importing a unit with a FTA in place.
Thanks!!

Individual countries/states impose their own sales tax upon delivery to the customer and UPS or Fedex will try and impose a customs handling fee of anywhere from $75 to $150 on some units. The key is to get your invoice in advance of delivery and go to your local customs office, and pay the tax there first. Then they cannot charge you any additional fees. Federal import taxes for Canada and America are around 11-12% but that does not apply here. Just the sales tax, which as I understand it, runs from 7% to 13% depending on jurisdiction. It won't affect the shipper (you, stam, in this case).

I'm in California. U.S.A. When I purchase on the internet out of state, If the company doesn't have a presents ( a location ) in California, they do not charge sales tax. If I purchase from a California vender, I am charged sales tax. I don't pay V.A.T. from other countries. There is a North American Trade Agreement. I do not pay any tax or import duty from a Canadian purchase. I have never paid any taxes except to California to a California company or company doing business in California. This is based on many worldwide purchases.

Hi DrBill,
More like mid June. If someone has an urgency and needs the unit to track or process some vocals on a certain project I can certainly put some extra hours to meet the deadline, but I'll rather be conservative and ond time than optimistic and late.
My clients understand that certain things take time. For example, Cinemag takes roughly 5 weeks to manufacture all transformers and another week to get here. Drip's maybe even longer for the T4B cell.
Winetree, it looks like there will be no tax at all in California.
By the way, I ship with standard post, with tracking and insured, this is the cheapest way and it's not too bad. If someone requires DHL or Fedex I can sort that out too but it would utleast double the shipping price. Each unit is roughly 6KG.
Cheers!

The TRS jacks are not case mounted?

The TRS jacks are not case mounted? That's a very good question... I'll have to study that when I get high resolution photos from Joshua. Unless he wishes to weigh in first.

I guess I should have rephrased that, according to the eBay link (if that's the same unit): "Why are the TRS jacks not case mounted".

I guess you could leave it connected to a patch bay which has case mounted jacks, on the 1/4" side of things.

Hi Guys,
Sorry for my late reply, I don't check forums frequently as I keep in touch with clients via email.
With regards to the delivery date, this varies as I build 2 a day, I have a strict quality control in place, one for the pcb components, one for the transformers and capacitors, then an audio test at the studio and then I let it burn for 24 hours. I also do sweeps for each unit and noise measuring, so 2 units go out a day, 130 guys on the list, you can have it in July or August depending on when you ordered. I have made this clear to clients via email and everybody seems fine with it so far.
As for the TRS and XLR, they are both pcb mounted (Stereo link as well).
Any questions let me know!
Cheers, Joshua
