Thanks guys. Might take you on on that offer Wiz. Have you tried it on acoustic guitar as well? Great price as well. Have read some great stuff about this baby. Also its in Australia no crap aussie dollar , or import duty issues. wont build it though. Will buy it assembled. Think im gonna get this one as soon as i have some cash free'd up

That's exactly what I need to use it on. Just messaged Joe to ask whats the lead time on one. Haven't read a bad review on this Comp. Looks like to big shots like the JLM stuff quite a bit. Not that that necessarily means everything.

I have a ton of Joes stuff.
TG500 NV500 99NV BA2 LA500 FC500 VU meter kit
I am using his go between plus kit in the preamp I am designing atm.
If you can solder a mic lead, you can build his LA500. Joe is incredibly helpful.
Cheers

I am gearing up to build a JLM MAC (2 x opto comps in a 1ru case) and 4 JLM preamp channels, 2 of Joe's dual 99V and 2 API style with Joe's 2520 opamp and CAPI input and output transformers. Have all the electronics, just faffing around with enclosures. Have previously built 4 channels of Baby Animal Neutrals, and 2 Baby Animals with John Hardy 990C opamps.
JLM kits are easy to build, and most importantly sound great. Just good honest gear with a user- friendly price tag and no audiophile hoo-haa.

Grabbing a LA500 in the next week or two. Need to wait for the next paycheck. Been a hectic month. Will report back.

I think I might become a JLMAudio junkie in much the same way I'm becoming a CAPI junkie. Terrific products that sound amazing at very reasonable prices, and I get to put it together (which really appeals to me)!

I looked at this, but went for the LAZ LA3A500 (DIY build) after speaking with someone who built both this and the LAZ box. Also, what seems to be missing from that LA500 that you find in a normal LA3A? that's right, the T4B Opto cell...

Well, since the DESIGNER just posted two posts before, maybe you can ask him about it.

The jlm doesn't use the t4b opto cells, that's what they use in the la2a, la3a, they do have that traditional sound, and some guys are sticklers for the traditional. The jlm has some really cool features that go beyond the traditional rigs, i have the la3a, but the la500 is on my wish list for sure.

I live very close to Joe's workshop. I went in there once to pick up an order. I felt like the proverbial kid in the candy store!
