Hm, unfortunately, we can't live under a rock really...unfortunately there are people that like Led Zep AND Metallica. Don't know why...and they *will* plug their ipod into the hifi while you are in the room - without warning.

I saw Led Zeppelin four times. They were amazing, and huge influences on me. The best show was in Seattle, right after LZ III came out. The crowd was rude during the acoustic segment of the show, shouting out "Whole Lotta Love" while Page and Plant were playing acoustic guitar and singing. Page got pissed, said something like,"you want Whole Lotta Love, well here it is." They went back to electric instruments and started playing this unbelievable, wonderful noise at top volume. The crowd booed and most of them left the arena to those of us who had figured out that the band WAS playing Whole Lotta Love, in 7/8 time. They ran through a bunch more tunes, all in odd meters. It was like listening to greatest hits, in Physical Graffiti style, long before they showed the world that part of their musical personality. Those guys could all play their asses off. Btw, Robert Plant is still such a pleasure to listen to and see live. A true artist, who keeps moving forward as a musician. The best.

It is insane. But that's one bored audience, they probably didn't know what hit them...

It is insane. But that's one bored audience, they probably didn't know what hit them... I discovered, back in the day, that hipster audiences could be cool and aloof. Didn't mean they were having a bad time, they just weren't demonstrative. But it is odd, the contrast between the frenzied playing and the sedate crowd is jarring. It's actually not the only silent audience seen in their early live video work - the "Danish TV" and "Supershow" performances were done in front of passive crowds. I wonder if the show's producers instructed people to sit, and be quiet.

Yeah, they're all great. But the band folded when it's best musician died. They knew that. To be fair, I doubt they wouldn't have folded if either Page or Plant died either. They were the sum of their talents. So, I just don't see them losing anybody, but perhaps Jones, and moving on. My apologies to Jones fans. He was awesome too, but Page and Plant seem to even today regard him differently.

Jones is still awesome, still making great music. My favorite bass player by the way, too.
