Hmm. The vimeo video "review" had this really nasal sound to it.. Anyone else hear that? Kcat's tracks sounded much flatter but still very mid forward.

Nice playing Matt! I prefer the U47 track, i hear a little proximity whoompf on both tracks, especially considering the 106 filter, imo distance equals depth.

yup with my mk-u47 very pleased ! I am working on a new track will see if I can post it. Here you go. working mix of my new song "promise", vocal was actually a scratch track to guide the bass player, its got a few blemishes and I was making up the lyrics but its grown on me ; see how it sits with you guys ? soundcloud.com/kcatthedog/promise-4-04-15wavI spent the morning replacing the ua pultec eq with the massenburg; all tracks not drums yet, doing surgical eq but trying to clean up and maintain tone. This is the song you guys helped give me direction on in the fall re: recording to click; thx !

Sounds like the vocals need a de-esser or change the mic. The vocals are a little spitty and essay. I'd figure the D4 would soften that.

probably more my diction or poor diction, the d4 has input and output tubes so its far from sibilant.. I think there are a fair number in the field now but not to many postings so far.
they have a video vocal at their site but is that the one svart thought the video sound file odd ?

I know, I have two D4s. There's a voice and guitar sample of the D4 and a Neumann u87 on the Winecamp mic shoot out thread. Insanely good combo.

thx Lolo, you know when you post people will hear things you don't and I am open to that
the main vox was recorded with my mk-u47 and d4 and I edited its phrases by hand, it has fab filter deess and I am using brainworx on buss ( it has deess) too.
I dupped the background vox and there is some sibilance in that.
i struggle with my adam ax7's now ( Martin's got me thinking about abbeys and I like amphion), but the cost of monitor upgrade with low cdn dollar is daunting.
how did the overall mix sound? Midi drums will be replaced next weekend with real drums.
I ask cus I blocked both ports on both my adam's and while I have probably lost a few lower cycles it sounds clearer and I mixed using my sony cans too ?

Just doing some looking around and it seems you can buy Dizengoff gear at some retail stores now: www.dizengoffaudio.com/dealersThis is great news for someone like me who thought I had missed out on the D4. Just wanted to pass it along.
