Yeah I believe it'll be $649 but $599 for the month of June.

NOTE : For the record, I've never used either Matt's or the original. But most people who I've asked about them (the originals) describe them as one trick pony FX'y style boxes that are great at kind of mangling things. Certainly not good for transparent compression. Sounds from Matt's description that his is not a box like that. Curious..... Yeah, I was in Omaha last weekend modifying some 192's for a studio. They had an incredible collection of gear: Fairchild comps, Requisite Audio PAL limiter, Neve and API consoles...they had three Federals. Definitely not a hi fidelity sound. Nice sound but as you describe it, kinda limited. I think in my case the decision to use Nickel 50 for transformers instead of steel makes a big difference. Because of the way Nickel 50 behaves (high permeability) the transformer design had to be approached a little differently. The Federal runs its B+ through the transformer primary so we had to build it so that DC current wouldn't create an inductance loss that starved the frequency response. It was really a fun challenge.

Just pre-ordered 2 of the gray ones. Matt said that was his favorate color also. The black faced seemed to hard to see the knobs.

I still can't get a handle on "what it is" so I'll wait. I can't tell if it's a clone that's a little different or something unique altogether that just borrows the "number". Clips on the internet don't really work for me although I know people demand them. But for me....I just can't get a good grip on whether or not it's a strike or a home run. I know Matt is a great designer though, so I have high hopes. but I'm kind of done with the "pre buy" thing myself. I'd rather pay the extra price and get a known entity that I can hear first.

I agree , but I might bite on one of these if I wasn't broke ! The price is right! Oh Bill my friend do remember your attitude towards clips as the Silverbullet gets closer to release! It's sad but it seams demo units for people who might want to actually buy a piece have all but dissapeared ! Now if you have some credits and say something nice no problem!

It's sad but it seams demo units for people who might want to actually buy a piece have all but dissapeared ! Now if you have some credits and say something nice no problem! Price is fair, no arguments there. I'm just stating my opinion for ME and how I need to do things these days. What's right or wrong for ME is not necessarily the same for you, and I'm AOK with that. I do find internet posted clips to be virtually worthless for me unless I have all the other gear in the chain (including performers and instruments) and I know them well. I need to get my hands on a piece of gear to discern if it works for what I want to hear. And that doesn't mean it's good or bad, just a discernment if it's something I need or not. As for the Silver Bullet, my thoughts are the same. We will of course put up clips, and hopefully video's. And I will think they are close to worthless in terms of what the unit can do and the subtleties that can be parsed, but others will not feel the same. And that's OK with me. I'm sure there will be demo units floating around for people to try out as soon as we can get caught up with our orders. But that might take awhile. And I'm OK with that as well. LTL is a small company, and resources are not unlimited. I wish Matt the BEST with this compressor and his other products, but as it's kind of an off-beat clone (or maybe not a clone, ? What is it? Like I said I can't figure it out quite...), I think I'll wait until I can get my hands on one to check out.

The description of this thing sounds nothing like what I've read about the originals for years. And to me that's great as Matts design seems way more versatile and up my alley. Hifi sheen are my 2 favorite words. D4->warm pultec->d864->vc528->svartbox = too big for monitors to contain?

I was very impressed, and now i'm gassing pretty hard for one of those and a KM84...or 2 haha..
