He is dead on correct. It had a little more puffy bottom before Shannon's final tweak to the capsule. Shannon asked me what I would like to hear to improve it and I told him I would want it clearer than how that particular 251 records. I fully believe he surpassed that 251 with the "in the room with the singer and no veil sound" as I like to call it. At this point, it is simply preference tweaks to make a particular vocal shine and diming the capsule to that particular voice, on site, in a studio environment, to really hear what the tweaks are doing for the singer. They have made history to my ears and this mic sure isn't going to cost what you'd have to spend on a vintage 251. R I agree. For most applications, I'd want crystal clear too. That's actually why I sold the 67. Mic's like that are magic for the right application or just not even close to right. No in between. With a crystalline mic that simply passes along information, you use that mic on everything. |

Amazing vocals Randy & Ashley, it's a million dollar voice you have.
Jerome and Sinsay, you've just nailed and nailed it again. I think I'm gonna send you my poor Avantone for some major facelift.
I liked better the clarity on Ashley's vocals, and while Randy's voice suit better the 251, personally I will feel limited about the tone(if the song is not right). Anyway, it's not that is not gorgeous sounding, just a matter of taste. I'm just telling the same as cowboycoalminer, but I feel the same.
Kudos to everyone involved, time will tell if you've made history...I'm pretty sure you have.
