Almost a year ago I started this project and I am almost done (staining wood and a little more trim) so I thought I would share some pics with this community. Its been fun and I have learned a lot from the experience. Cant wait to install equipment!!!! The guys in the pics are the contractors (except for my son in one of the pics.) I will post REW files and more pics of gear in room. A little about the build...(this was built in the third bay of my garage by a contractor friend and I painted and did all the interior work) The main purpose was isolation...The room is 9 ft at the front and 12ft in the back(splayed) is 17ft long and 8ft high. It was built using 2X6's for framing with mineral wool. The inside has 2 layers of 5/8th drywall that has Green glue in between and all seams were filled with acoustical caulk. The walls are completely isolated from the surrounding walls (room within a room.) 3 sides are open back (with no drywall) and R30 was used against the existing walls (which were exterior walls.) This was done to not add another "leaf." The interior has 4 inch mineral wool fabric wrapped all around the room. The corners have "super chunks" of mineral wool. The slots are slightly bowed and provide diffusion to maintain a sense of naturalness (protect from the uninspiring dead room.) The back fabric covered is faced on one wall and the opposite side unfaced. The back wall is slot and made of cedar with both insulation covered in fabric with a facing. On the ceiling are clouds that run the length of the room. Enjoy! The Panasonic mini-split is awesome!!! It is ultra quiet and the room has a fresh air supply coming in (vent on the back wall.)

I'd be interested to know how you are bringing in the fresh air while using the split. Vent/Attic/silencer DIY box/fan Fan running all the time, or do you have some sort of relay turning it on when the split comes on? BTW, the space looks great. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Thats a good question as I had a professional install it but I think you hit the nail on the head, I believe it comes on with the split.

Very nice RicFoxx! Congratulations! Please let us hear some of the sounds coming out of that room- maybe a little AC guitar and, of course, drums?

I'll mic up that mini split if you want me to Voice is still not back to normal...Im working with Dr Charles Green who specializes in laryngology here in Jacksonville. Im not suppose to be singing but at this point I might just have to accept the damage in my voice folds and adapt. The thing that sucks about that is low level singing is toneless, unclear and difficult to hold pitch. Singing is my 1st love so its been difficult to keep my mouth shut... My wife doesn't mind though!!!! Anyway, can't wait to get equipment in and wired up. It seems it like pulling teeth trying to get things done with two small children and a couple of businesses...something that should take a day takes weeks. One thing that is ultra cool and exciting to me is my youngest child (Olivia Jewel) who is a little over 1.5 years old seems to be taking a liking to singing. So having a world class home studio not only for me but for my kids is awesome. Here is Olivia's first written song at age 1. For all you gear heads the chain was: SM58 held by Olivia as she sung/toneboost/ZOD DI/Avid Omni. Attachment Deleted

Doing some testing...REW doesn't work well with MAC. Sweeping sine wave seems to be no nulls or peaks all around the room and even at very loud volumes the bass is very tight and image seems to be as good as Ive heard. Burning in Focals for next couple of days while I finish modifying my desk. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted
