I think the room i record in has the most effect and is the canvas, not some piece of gear.

And I think it should speak to what I think of it. I've had Lavry, Symphony, Apollo, Butl, RM, etc. I think this just underscores that svart hit his design target of an accurate set of high resolution converters that would represent linearly the signal that they were presented with, that would be very good value and hang with more expensive products. Its only natural that we may express different preferences.

It will be as the current design ? Yes, no changes to this design for the foreseeable future. Any differences will be addressed in other designs. I'm heading into a busy few months at work, so I'll be having a contract manufacturer do most of the board building for me which will hopefully speed up the process somewhat.

Maybe svart could do some sort of order website. I don't think anyone would object to a percentage down for the order right? Something like tictail.

I've already talked to someone about doing a website/e-commerce thing for me. Now i just need more money to make it happen, which is coming from this next batch.

I got LesC sorted out. I was on the last unit and his name came up from the list, so it worked out perfectly!

Wow, this will be a rare weekend that I hope goes by quickly! I feel like I've won a prize (about time). I'm really looking forward to using the SvartBox. I'm planning to use it for my analog loop, connected to the AES in/out of my UFX. Now if I only had a way to use another SvartBox for monitoring, connected to one of my unused ADAT connections.
I'm actually leaning towards getting a Grace M905 monitor controller. It's on the expensive side, but I'm not aware of any other high-end monitor controller with an ADAT-in.
Unless Svart comes up with an inexpensive ADAT-out to SPDIF-in solution. Hmmm???

I'm confused...how are you wanting to use it? i would think it would be connected Spdif out to AES in of ufx. Then use as DA by going AES out of ufx to Spdif in of svartbox.

That's exactly how I will use it. That will give me my analog loop.
In addition, I'd like a monitor out via an ADAT port. This would give me the equivalent of something like a Lynx Hilo or a Prism Lyra 2, with 2 channels in and 4 channels out.
Does that clear it up, or am I still being confusing (one of my specialties)?

I think it's quite cool to allow people to put a deposit down like what's been said, RM makes you pay full price and then wait way too long for shakey product reliability, svart knows what he's doing with electronics, there is no doubt in my mind that this rig is, and will continue to be quite stable.

Cranesong hedd is monitor controller and dac right? It's actually the Crane Song Avocet that is the monitor controller, the Hedd is a DA-AD unit with some tape-like effects but no monitor control. All of the high-end monitor controllers, from Crane Song, Dangerous Music, Grace, and Crookwood have versions that include DACs. But as far as I know, it's only the Grace M905 that has an ADAT connection. I could use this because the RME UFX only has one digital in-out except for the ADAT connections. Even my Dangerous Source has a DAC, which will no longer be connectable to the UFX once I install the SvartBox.

Hey Svart congrats on the product launch! I am curious as to what this A/D is like for printing mixes through, if I was looking for something a little coloured like the burl would this be a good option or no? Once again, many congrats!

a little coloured, ha some would say the b2 colours a lot the b2 and the svart box had clips posted on the other thread. I think they are designed to be very different boxes , the b2 has the inline transformers and the svart box is much more linear ?

Been a while since I updated this..
I've ordered all the parts for the new batch of 10 a few weeks ago. One of the parts is on back order until mid november. I've already received notice that the front bezels are shipping since I ordered them a month ago.
I still need to get the package together for quote by another board assembly house, because I won't have as much time to build boards this time around.
I have all the chassis and everything, just need to spend a day cutting/drilling.
This time around it should go pretty quickly.
i also plan on doing a website and will transfer the ordering process to it once I get through the next 5-6 people that are on the last of the list.
