Glenn Hughes is 62 years old and he can still do this.
Now I don't know much about Alter Bridge except the little I've heard on the radio. They seem talented enough, certainly good guitar players, but just not my cup of tea. Then watch and listen to Glenn Hughes. Another universe altogether. Just look at his Presence on stage! This guy believes in his rock n roll.
I really miss the creative mystique that defined Hughes' era of Rock n Roll. I just don't get the goosebumps from a new rock track that I used to get. Maybe 'cause I'm getting older but I think more because I'm not convinced that most new rock has that believable "I'm here to take you on MY ride and make you FEEL my point of view" mentality.
Glen Hughes fuckin' rocks.

Glad to hear he's still playing music and is really good. Funny story: When I was a young kid, I bought Trapeze's album "You are the music we're just the band" at a music store after looking at the album cover without listening to the album. The band looked popular and cool. Then I listened to the album and got my first lesson in how image doesn't always add up to quality. Sorry for the hijack, but it triggered that memory. Never bought an album without listening to cuts from it again. I'm sure others have had this wake up moment, it's part of the education. Don't they look cool: And popular too:

No wonder you thought they look cool, they're trying to look exactly like the coolest band of all time!!!!!!

Glenn's new project with Jason Bonham, California Breed, is not bad either. I always liked whatever he did, he's a great soul singer but lately, he's screaming a bit to much for my taste. As if he still needs to prove anything. The music's great though. When I heard Burn for the first time, his duetting (is that a word??) with Coverdale blew me away. Ah, the memories...

I can't get into Alter Bridge, somehow they don't move me. But I love Myles Kennedy, what a great singer. Any relation John??

California Breed is indeed a good project! I agree with you 100% that Glenn's doing a bit too much screaming also. I also think some of the lyrics on the California Breed album are cheesy and, well, let's say a bit gratuitous. But the rock groove that those 3 have is spot on!
