Mothership Studio, www.mothershipstudio.com/studio/index.html It's Steve Vai's place, big API baby, looks like i'm going up there in a couple weeks to assist for a few days on a project and hang at the house with a good AE buddy of mine. It's an ongoing country project, anyone heard of John Spicer? I heard some roughs of this project, this is some serious shit, the songs and sounds are killer, it's 100% free of samples/replacements/autotune/loops, their going new old school, the band is totally killing it, it should be really fun! My buddy Fletch is at the console laughing at the end of the 1st vid 8) |

Nice, does Vai hang out there at all? from what i understand, it's not likely he'd be there. He has a studio at his new house, apparently this place was on the market for a bit, but i guess they had a hard time selling it, it's got 4 floors built into the side of a Hollyweird hill, the studio is the entire 2nd floor(i think?). I'd guess what 100% of us here see as dream come true, doesn't jive with the general home buyers desire to NOT have a world class studio right in the middle of their house?.... Damn Fools!! lol |

Even in LA, having a studio attached to your residence at this point is generally considered a negative factor when it comes to selling a home with studio. When I recently sold mine, I had my realtor do a lot of research and she ended up downplaying the studio, and calling my live room a home theater and my CRM a "mother in law" suite - even though I had a lot of studio and acoustics money tied up in it. When all was said and done and it sold, having the studio attached was generally considered negative factor, and I had to kick back some money to convert it back into normal usage. The Chinese could care less about studios.... Luckily they were in a feeding frenzy and it didn't much matter. Got my asking price and then some. All good.
In my new loation, I'm building out a free standing CRM/studio, and I'm giving a LOT of thought about how much $$ to put into a building that will not bring in much $$$ as I'm no longer selling studio time... Weird times we're in.... I'm not surprised there was no interest.

Well my buddy AE/producer buddy Tom Fletcher(bass player) stopped by last night and dropped off a promotional CD for John Spicer's upcoming release, I think it's got a couple real nice tracks that fly right in the face of the bro country debacle, the kid is pretty damn good IMO, check this out, it was filmed at Steve Vai's place, I never saw the girl from the vid the times I was there.. damn! lol
