Pair of KM86 mics I was able to buy back, after selling them to a buddy a few years back.
An M49 clone built with a real K49 + an Oliver Archut circuit.

Adam Audio Sub8... biggest improvement in mix translation of any one piece. But mostly grateful for the smart people here ( ericn and a few others) who explained the benefit of adding a sub to my room and walked me through how to do it without making things worse. Also I got a great deal on it on Craigslist. Always makes things sound better! Happy to help.

I'm thankful for all of my gear. Bought this year is the Lauten Atlantis, and maybe something cool with good financing as an end of the year treat. I forgot I also got an Eastwood Classic 12 Gretsch style hollowbody 12-string.

That reminds me of when I met Eastwood. In Westwood. Made my day.

Don’t laugh. But the dozen cheap little side flush wire cutters I bought in January for like $5.00ea, because nobody has been able to get any other than the larger, more expensive Hakko since August. When I was at Henery Epstein 2 weeks ago looking for a pair they told me to let them know if I found a source.

These were especially sweet acquisitions that I am thankful for and use at least many times a week, most are used daily: Martin CEO-7 Nord Stage 4 RND 5060 2 Electric & Company EC3(51) 2 Electric & Company EC5-B and… for an upcoming concert, dialing it in daily, an RND 5045
Great gear not only performs beautifully but the engineering/design makes me very thankful & blessed to be doing what I love and providing amazing opportunities to our music ministry teams.

Of anything this year, I would say I am most grateful for the B67/269…and in a week or so I should receive the SAE U48 which I believe will contend for that spot.

I recently got a Trident VFM for a bargain. Super low end by Trident standards (or any standards come to that!), but it really sounds way more fantastic than I was expecting. The high and low shelf EQ is stellar. I have two channels of the 80b series EQ, and was going to get a bunch more for mixing. But I'm frequently finding myself using the desk EQ instead. So a mix of itb, desk EQ and a few channels of outboard are doing fine.
A 1972 Jazz bass!!!! That is definitely something to be thankful for!

Oh also, I had the chance to try out the current expensive Neumann tube range. I actually enjoyed the U67re the most. Sounded beefy, and had a nice presence. Maybe the early production was uneven but this one sounded fantastic.
Would be very interested to hear what you thought of the M49v compared to your vintage 49.. Did you end up doing a comparison video?
Very thankful for a very simple 88M interface that made travelling around so much easier without it feeling like a compromise.

Not as high end as some of you, but honestly, the two best purchases this year have been a new Gretsch 5420. So inexpensive but I'll damned if it didn't open the most sustained period of music creation I've have in 15 years. I swear every time I pick it up, some new little ideas just fall out of it. The other is my M4 Pro mini. I finally upgraded my Intel Macs. Not having to manage CPU and no fan noise is an amazing quality of life improvement. It's the little things.

No video yet but I have the files. Although the M49v sounds fantastic the vintage is another level. It just sounds more natural and has a presence and toppend that is very pleasing

I invested in myself, instead of gear, this year. I’ve enrolled I in a few courses to learn how to play the piano (jazz) and drums, as well as bass, singing and music theory. I’m thankful for any spare minutes in my day that I can dedicate to this.

Adding two things I’m very grateful for that I just implemented today….Thomastik Infeld Spectrum Bronze strings on my J45. First time trying them and it is the first string I’ve used that actually sounds fairly broken in…a tiny but of new string zing, but not much. Now I can change strings and not wait before tracking.
The other thing I picked up today is a 48” OLED TV that I’m using as my main screen. Was on a 34” ultra widescreen monitor before. This gives me so much more real-estate that I don’t think I’ll need a second screen anymore.
A great day all around!

I’m thankful for any spare minutes in my day that I can dedicate to this. Goal for 2025... 1) Minimum Italian speaking/listening vocabulary of 1000+ words. 2) Continue to streamline the basic Bel Canto training. (@ Vincent. Am leaning towards "Tito Schipa-ish" methods) Largely aiming for decent Popera (Mic/Voice) technique. 3) Probably will jettison the Tamplin subscription, later next year. After cherry picking some "exclusive" stuff. 4) More practice on Harmonies. Including the Beatles Harmony Channel. (Voice naturally gravitates to "George" back ups) 5) Keep inspired! Chris
