I tell this to anyone and everyone at sonnox every time I have one of their ears. Adding the sc woukd immediately render every other gate obsolete. JUST DO IT ALREADYðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ How does Drum Gate compare to Silencer? I know that's a question asked many times but, well... here's one more. Drum Gate looks way more flexible but are the results that different in the end? I guess it's got some transient shaping tools built in which is nice. But in terms of the actual isolation of drum hits, is this more effective than Silencer? Drum Gate is a bit cleaner on the transients. But due to the lack of side chain, it can be a hassle to set up (you have to "teach" it the sonic imprint of the desired drum hits; a side chain feature would allow for simple external keying). Sonnox also has a handy "leveler" feature that is nice.

I didn’t have luck with Silencer but use Drum Gate for kick and snare. For toms, I usually just do manual editing and if cymbal bleed is really bad use something like Izotope to kill that which allows me to keep the sustain of the drum in tact. Yeah - same here. Silencer sounded weird and plasticky. I use Drum Gate on kick and Snare - and do my toms manually. I always make sure I grab a few various velocity tom hits when tracking, so any loud cymbal hits where there is a tom, I can substitute with the clean tom sample if needs be. I never have time to get into RX to muck with cymbal bleed.
Cymbal bleed is not much of a problem for me these days as the Lauten tom mics are a king at rejecting cymbals
