That session recall app is my new jam It's great. I love using it. And although they don't carry every manufacturer, i've found that they sometimes have a cloned version from another builder. In my case, AMS Neve isn't on the list, but Stam's SA-609 mkI fit the bill for my 33609n. |

I generally just have a Mix Buss compressor and EQ. I take pictures and make labels in the pictures. I send them to the computer and use the free Snapshot plugin, which also has a notes section, if I need. I'm doing an on going VO thing for a video game. I took picks of the mic pre gain, compressor and fader on the console settings that are on the first session. I can open it, set the gear, and then add, or open a new session of that is what we're doing that day. Snapshot |

I use these if I’m at the studio, mark them up, then run 1k through compressors and see what my return volume is and mark that down so you can get it exact. www.barryrudolph.com/recall/sheets.htmlAmazing work that he's put in to compile these. But unfortunately there are no templates for AudioScape, Locomotive, Iron Age Audio or Louder than Liftoff. |

I do what bgrotto stated earlier.
For mix buss I use stuff with stepped controls so recall is easier and just write the settings in the “comment” section of the print track
And with the commit function using the “hide and make inactive” function you can easily go back to the “raw” sound if needed

my workflow: use the hardware than insert the equivalent plugin, set the knobs as on the hardware and set it in bybass. maybe put a note in the channel if this aint your normal workflow. hw recall done.

For those who like photos like me, there’s a handy free plugin called snapshot from I think they’re called non lethal applications.
You insert the plugin anywhere in your session - or even multiple times - and then load in the phone photos sitting on you desktop. It’s just convenient to save the photos right there in the relevant daw session.

Session Recall looks great except for one problem. CAPI is not on it and all of my outboard EQs are CAPI. I wonder if we can get Jeff Steiger to make this happen.

That session recall app is my new jam I was going to mention them in here, you already found them... Pretty much a one man show, and it's always down to do custom things for you. He did my whole API Box Console and took all the API logo stuff off of it as a "generic" piece because a lot of manufacturers were not really on board initially. I also like that you pay per piece as opposed to a freaking subscription or something. |

I use Session Recall app. Works great. Has revision history and honestly is not that expensive when it comes down to it.

Recall? Ain't anybody got time for that. Print it all and move on! If you need to change something, just re-do it. We need more people to approach mixing as a sand mandala.

It’s just convenient to save the photos right there in the relevant daw session. Snapshot rules. I mean, I could think of some improvements, but it's free and get the job done. I commit as i go and rarely have to go back for individual channels. Mix bus is a different story. I use Curve EQ Analyzer for matching HW eq settings (take a screenshot and put it in snapshot pugin, then match it for recall) I also print pink noise and then when I recall, I play it back phase flipped and fine tune the eq until it nulls... (For comps I also print a combination of noise and kick transients that break the threshold, and null that when recalling) |
