Whew. Thank goodness that SM7b appears to have no damage. according to the interview, that is his mic of choice anyway... or at least that's what he uses most often. Maybe the Neumann is just a photo prop.  |

Maybe the Neumann is just a photo prop. It’s a pretty common practice to put up what you think will work & what the artist wants. What’s an extra track vs an argument? Decided at mix ( note after listening with the artist, no one would ever switch the labels on the tracks just to stroke the artists ego I say no one). |

An hour later and a million cigarettes down and the band breaks up 😂. I’ve realize that some people just have to be right. |

The trick is to talk to the artist in pre production, find out he insists on his favorite mic, but when he walks in and sees that second mic “ yeah I just got in it’s from the session before us, I know, I just was more concerned about getting your mic set up”😁. Note to self convince who ever is taking over for Ian that sych 101 would should be one of the requirements for the recording tract. I am serious the organizational behavior part of my MBA requirements made me a better AE/ Producer! |
