If you click on a 500 series on its site : you see this: “This is the 500 series module only! It will not work in any of the SCA chassis! There is an SCA only version of the N72 available as well in the Classic series section. The 500 Series kits require voltage measurement and calibration which can be easier with the use of a 500 series extender kit. We recommend this: www.diyrecordingequipment.com/products/500ext-500-series-extender-kit” Think sca could make this a bit clearer? Oh, that’s for if you build your own. My dude got his prebuilt.

Unfortunately they are different takes (they have a 2dB difference) and different entonation. This said I have an AMS Neve and an old 1073 with Marinairs and I'm aware of the tonal differences. I always try to replicate that darker tone on every unit with a bigger low end Hey Josh, yeah I’ll probably give this another go and do a simultaneous take, probably using a spitter from one of my tube mics. The 2db difference is really a dynamic range thing. The Neve has a few areas where the dynamic range seems bigger. I was expecting your 1073 to be a touch darker, and your unit did not disappoint. I used it for a session vocal the other day. It sounds rich and warm.

I’ve always thought BAE was the best sounding Neve clone - a little darker…the Stam with the Sowter sounds just as good and very, very similar to those.

I’ve had the two channel Stam 1073MPA for years. Great sounding unit.
