Thanks. So are you saying that no, it Tape 79 doesn't offer saturation and transient rounding? Is it just EQ and phase? Hey! I’ll give you a more direct answer than Bill did. ☺️ Yes, it offers tape saturation and transient rounding. To my ears it does all the magical things that I associate with recording to tape. I’m just as happy with this thing as I am with my Anamod ATS-1. Feel free to ask me anything and I’ll try to give you the answers you need. Brad Thanks! I'm trying to understand, it sounds really cool. Does the module provide the saturation (i.e., is that a setting within the module), or does the preamps in the SB mkII provide the saturation?

All the tape emulation happens on the TAPE•79 module. The Silver Bullet mk2 serves as a host that provides power, I/O, and gain control to use that processing. The SB does create its own saturation in the A and N Mojo Modules as well. You might want to demo the SB mk2 Plugin to get a feel for what the SB does on its own. There’s no TAPE module in the plugin, but you will get a feel for the workflow using other things in the C MOJO slot. Brad

Brad Other than dip switches, is there anything like crosstalk etc going on with the SB stereo unit that would be different vs two mono Tape-C's in a pair of 500 modules?

Technically there probably is, but it’s likely very small. Anytime you have multiple analog channels in a PCB there is going to be crosstalk. But a lot of that crosstalk is probably happening at other points throughout the Silver Bullet signal path. On the stereo Mojo Module the two channels are complete separate and don’t share any ICs. Even the power is decoupled separately for each channel. Thanks for the question. Brad

Just as an aside, any luck getting a video with Warren?

I’ve been trying to connect with them, but nothing yet. Maybe I missed an email?

Duh! I knew this. ☺️
Sorry I was on autopilot this morning. The caffeine was still kicking in.

Brad I'm happy to do some videos on all the tape stuff and silver bullet (I'm going to try to get started on a pretty ambitious video series on tape next month with my Otari MTR-12, it would be nice to have some more hardware options to compare the Otari with).

Question because I'm not familiar: are the mono tape C units going to be 500 modules? Or is it a proprietary LTL design?

Question because I'm not familiar: are the mono tape C units going to be 500 modules? Or is it a proprietary LTL design? They're "color modules," which fit inside any piece of gear that hosts color modules. DIYRE makes several host options, and LTL has the Mr. Focus and SBII that can host color modules.

And also Chroma 500 series, and Chroma+ (1RU)! I believe Louder Than Liftoff actually makes more Colour compatible hosts than any other brand including DIYRE. And there are more new products in the works that will make use of Colour as well. Brad
