I have a ton of GLS Audio cables from either Amazon or the GLS site. Got a bunch of warehouse deals on GLS cables from Amazon too. Good flex to them and they’ve been working for me for years now. They have Black Fridays sales or whatever too. I don’t know if it’s legit or if it’s a system error or what, but GLS has a pack of 10 12ft cables on sale for 11 bucks right now on Amazon. I bought in because I could use some replacements. I’ll let you know if it goes through.

I make all of mine but I've heard Eric Valentine say in his channel videos he's got Hosa all over the place in his setup. As long as the connections are good I wouldn't worry about using cheaper ones. I have several of the "nicer" Hosa TRS cables and they've been great.

Funny enough in the old days Radio Shack carried a TRS cable that was actually Canare L4E6S with Canare connectors.

Can someone find me some IEC cables on AliExpress or the like (or anywhere else) that actually wrap and lay like Canare at AliExpress prices? I need to invest into my own brand-name, have it made in China, and make millions off it before it catches on everywhere because everyone’s frustration-level will ease!

I mean I have a bunch of them but except for live sound, they mostly stay put. and the cables I use for live sound just get wrapped up and tied with velcro and they don't really annoy me. Maybe because they are typically 6 ft or less? stiff mic cables definitely annoy me.

Tube microphone power supplies. Pull out and put away a few of them regularly and it’s annoying. Pull out and put away a dozen of them even somewhat regularly, and it drives you mad!

None of this matters. Has that been said?

Sometimes I even just hang them on a hook and let them dangle. shocking, I know.

FWIW I always get PigHogs for our testing cables at Vanguard - 6 footers, usually. We go through a few pairs per year with how often they get plugged/unplugged and manipulated as we test mics. We do repair them sometimes too although with the frequent plugging/unplugging sometimes it's a connector issue, not a wiring issue. Thought about buying Mogamis or LiveWire Quads from GC and just swapping them out for the warranty, but then i'd have to actually visit a Guitar Center, and that's time I don't have.
Weirdly i have a cheap pair of AmazonBasics XLRs in my home office that have gone strong for a while now. But another pair we had at the office was awful. YMMV.

As long as the connections are good I wouldn't worry about using cheaper ones. speaking of connections --- caig.com/product/deoxit-d100l-2c/every so often I put some on a TRS cable and lube my patch bay. Good for the patch cables too. I had to tear apart the patch bay (and put this stuff on the back side connections too) so hopefully it stays good for several years (prevents - or slows - oxidization which will occur over time). Little trick i learned as a studio intern for deoxidizing patchbays fast - one of those soft-bristled brushes you get for cleaning glass/metal drinking straws, etc. Spray the deoxit on that fella, and put it in a power drill on the low-rotation gear. The soft bristle version is important so you don't bend the contacts, but it makes the work go WAY faster than doing it by hand.

It looks like the "deal" listing is delivering out to late October now, so it's uncertain if it will actually arrive.
I had a similar situation with Amazon where a 3rd party "partner" kept pushing the delivery date back, and after 3 of those I cancelled.

If they charge me I'll probably cancel, but if it is just pending I'm willing to see what happens (but expect it will probably never ship because I've had that same thing happen too before)

On budget cables it’s not the wire it’s the connectors that are usually the problem.

It’s been 35 years since Canare training but if memory serves there are 2 issues, neither the outer sheathing nor the inner is rated for high enough current / voltage and the winding on the conductors for AC has to be so tight it just wouldn’t be flexible. I know the 4 conductor speaker cable comes with a warning not to use as AC Mains cable. As far as IEC cables, over the years I have had some very flexible 16ga, not really an issue with mic PSU’s. If it really was an issue I would check out what my local electrical supply houses had for bulk 14ga, see if it was flexible enough and DIY.

Due to the cost of the connectors themselves, DIY is not a cost-friendly option at all. Actually, around Black Friday and Christmas on Amazon seems to be the best option. Last year I found some heavy-gauge, Chinese Hi-Fi, braided-cover ones for less-than $20-a pop or something and appeared to be super-flexible. I wasn’t sure, I snoozed, figured there’s always next-year!

I have tons of "off-brand" cables. They're hit or miss. If they're hit, they work fine. If they're miss, then the biggest problem I've had is that they break quickly at the solder joints or the connectors are cheap and break easily. Usually for just connecting two racked unit, they're fine. Monster cable is a terrible brand. Part of their business model was to sue anyone using "monster" in their name. they've even sued companies that just sell audio cables. They litigate until you can't afford your defense and then they make an offer where you can pay them royalties to continue your business. Same, Lynx custom is a bit more expensive but not by much and they’ve never missed a heartbeat.

Hosa Pro cables from B&H have been great over here Rean and Neutrik ends for easy repairs when needed but I don't think I've had to repair any yet bonus the mono rca to TS cables when I opened them up are three wire inside so I have taken the ends off some and converted them into TRS and XLR cables
Audio Technica xlr cables also a good value from B&H and less expensive than some other brands

There’s a brand someone here turned me on to. Worlds Best Cables on Amazon, I think? They make cables with name brand parts for near DIY prices. Crazy. I just ordered a pair of Gotham/Amphenol 10ft XLR cables for $40 with free shipping. Seems like a very thin profit margin to me.
I'm curious about their in-house brand though since the cables look like a very durable tweed over the jacket. It's interesting that they're charging more for their in house brand, despite not using a name brand cable. Wonder if anyone has tried them yet?
