I find a cumulative approach tends to work best. Like someone said, you need to keep some, just need to tame them sometimes.
ITB, the Fuse channel strip is default and its preamp does help quite a bit. There's also a TDR Slick EQ for each channel that has a bit of saturation. Then things often end up on a bus. Compression/ saturation/ whatever. Then there's the two bus - Satin really helps here - and hardware EQ and comp.
Nothing's doing a ton of work but I find it adds up to really tame most transients.
