I have used Hilo, Burl, Lavry, Svartbox, Antelope, SSL, UA and more. The Hilo is the one I prefer on my master bus and for DA to my monitors by a fair margin - even all these years later. I set it and forget it. Literally NEVER touch my settings. No need to. With the new clock on the Hilo 2 providing an advertised improvement, IMO it will be one to take note of. It’s routing and flexibility are second to none for configuring it to work with any given system. My 2 Svartbox converters get honorable mention. Slightly fatter sounding but still natural and the highs are a touch more subdued than my Hilo. But the low end on the Hilo is just tight and accurate for me, and the highs are open and musical without sounding strident. Also the mids are musical and natural. They are mastering quality converters.
