I got a pair of the 400 pros a little while back and they’re excellent. I liked them better than the 600 or 650’s.

If these 490s are as good as the HD 800s then they are a great deal!
I assume they might be at NAMM.

Geesh - my Hd 800s headphones were so expensive! I could have had three pairs of these.
Now if they make a closed back version - I would like that.

There are so many different models now, even within a company like Senn, that it's difficult to know the pecking order of what is considered better.

Geesh - my Hd 800s headphones were so expensive! I could have had three pairs of these. Now if they make a closed back version - I would like that. Not closed, but they come with two ear bands, one for flatter response( mixing /mastering), the other warmer,for more casual listening. |

Realistically, I'll probably limp along with cross referencing my... AKG 240 DF/Sony MDR-V6/Tascam TX-200. But just primarily tracking voice. Chris P.S. That’s us price, I’m in Canada:), I can order from states but landed cost, exchange, shipping , duties, taxes, brokerage fees push the us price up at least 30% in Cdn $

I had trouble selling my basically new 650’s and lost a couple of hundred, basically demoing them, won’t do that again. For a little more , I could buy new avantones cla n10 passives . |

It’s actually cdn retailers who complain, as US retailers are more competitive. Free trade was never really free and dependent on the product The cdn $ has been weak vs us$ for over a decade. Cdn gov’t says good promoted trade, individual Canucks, might see it differently as currency exchange adds up.
What can you do, you guys in the states, enjoy the power of the US $!!

I have a pair of the HD 490. I haven't heard the 600/650s but the 490 is open and has a wide stereo image with nice depth. They're a bit midforward for my liking, around 3khz but overall very nice and is very comfortable. Worth checking out for sure

Canada has Molson and Labatt. Fortunately, I grew up 30 miles from Canada on the other side of Lake Ontario. (Not that they shipped the beer over the lake.  ) |
