Where's the sub? Still can't do a "full" Barefoot Atmos rig until we get a sub, let's go!

Got burned by Barefoot on two failed power supplies 3 months apart(out of warranty of course). Hard pass for me.

I have the upmost respect for Thomas as a designer, but I’m not a fan of his sonic taste.

These look pretty nice. I was considering the new KH-120 II’s.. Might have to give these a look.

Wonder how they differ from the 02s sonically?

The numbers are listed at end of video. The 3’s are ported so bottom would be different.

I used to love my Avantone Pro Abbeys. They were a 3 way with a port that went down to 37 hertz. I had to sell them for medical bills and miss them every day. These might be similar. I'd love to demo them somewhere. I didn't love the Barefoot sound I did hear, I preferred ATC.

I’ll chime in since I worked on MM27’s for years, had Footprint 01’s here for a few years and upgraded to MM45’s now. Going from Footprints dual subs to the single one on the MM45 was brutal. Even though the low end is more accurate and “better” on the MM45’s, it felt like a downgrade as it wasn’t anywhere near as prominent or powerful/punchy. That was a BIG change to get over, I ended up with a cheap sub from Kali Audio to hold me over as I can turn it on/off.
Don’t expect a prominent or typical punchy barefoot low end from these. If you’re used to that, it’s probably going to be an adjustment with these new speakers, I can almost guarantee you it will be a similar experience I had between the 45’s and Footprints.
I’m sure these are going to kick ass in that price range, I can also guarantee you this is a move into Atmos world for them as well. My advice, if low end is important to you then you’ll probably want to lean towards the dual sub Footprints. They’re also significantly more expensive, so that’s another consideration. I’m also willing to bet that there will be a sub in the near future. I’m guessing they’ll do a “nicer” version first, but was surprised not to see a Footprint sub offering along side this one. Even if they just did a small, dual 8 inch single sub with the Footprint 01 speakers for like $2k, I would consider getting one for my MM45’s as I still can justify the cost on the dual 45 subs…

These definitely peak my interest as a fun set of monitors. Too bad I already have 3 sets of monitors in full time use.

Not only would that work in an atmos setup, but also, the more I think about this the more I think 03 could possibly end up having a more accurate low mid and bass response than the 01 and 02's simply because the woofer is on the front and has lower distortion. It's more dedicated to that range. That's one of the complaints I've hard about the 01/02, is that things get kind of blurry in those low-low mids because it's basically a two way with a sub on the side. So instead of that dual sub design, this 03 has the potential to be more accurate in that region, and then get paired with a barefoot sub.

Got burned by Barefoot on two failed power supplies 3 months apart(out of warranty of course). Hard pass for me. the class d pox. Somehow the hifi sounding modules don’t last as long as the pa amps that sound meh. Honestly man, it makes me want to go passive, Genelec, or ATC because they’re well distributed and fix their shit. I use KRKs because I got replacement pairs for free but when these inevitably break, I want to check out the new Kali expensive passives meant to be paired with an LEA amp. I hope they have integrated LEA amplifier versions at NAMM. Dan

But barefoots would still be fun in a production lab!!

Well, called VK to see if I could demo for a day since they have some here in Nashville. Told me I could buy them and return them if I didn't like them. Oh well...I'll just keep my Amphions.

I’ve got the MM45s, I know about that sub package. It’s specifically designed for the MM45’s with a built in crossover at 80 hz. Doesn’t really have the features or versatility most people are looking for in a subwoofer, and definitely wouldn’t be useful in a surround sound or Atmos application.

Which amphions are you running ? Assuming this was meant for me, One18s. I would happily upgrade to Two18s, but I don't think that would be necessary given the size of my room. I'm just a huge fan of what Amphion delivers in terms of translation, sound stage, etc. They were the first speaker that I have ever listened to where the speaker disappeared the moment I close my eyes. All I could hear was the soundstage, and couldn't perceive the location of the speakers. I hadn't encountered that before, even with ATCs or any other brand.

Thx, yes, you. I had them in past and also appreciated their naturalness , am rethinking getting monitors again and they are in the running!

I wonder if they somehow fixed that beamy tweeter.. Oh it's still a ring radiator. Yeah.
Are we sure VK didn't misprice them?

One15's are my mains, I'd probably only ever upgrade to Two15's. The only reason I'd ever consider barefoot is for fun! not for translation. I don't think I'll ever go to anything else for mains but amphions.

Well, I love my Amphions too, boys…but I’m always open to something better. Guess I’m just a gear slut.
