This is interesting and a fantastic price point. Agreed and definitely interested. 22 cabs, 6 mics, and even some onboard fx is a great deal. Have you used the companion app on any of the other UA pedals? And if so how is it? It seems vital on this one.

Kinda cool. Sounds better to me than the original Ox I tried out with my amps. Maybe the Eleven Rack is the key.

Can’t plug an amp directly in…have to have a load box.

This should be released as a plugin as well.
I mean, if you're on the studio, after the Load Box, you'll be going to the computer. No reason to have another box and have to suffer using an app on your phone.
For live situations, of course the pedal is a great thing.

Way more profit selling it in its own little pedal. Those things can be mass produced at surprisingly cheap prices, there’s a heap of profit built in!

Anybody tried any of their amp in a box pedals? They ain’t cheap. Cheers, Geoff Yeah I’ve got the dream. It’s pretty good, I’m happy with it for demos and sometimes I can convince myself that it sounds great, until I plug into one of my real amps and then it’s just no contest. But then each amp is worth more than 10 times the price of the dream

I was interested in the UAFX pedals for live until I confirmed thet the app can only connect to one at a time …. what?
They need to just get on the multifx train snd build a Helix-beater multi fx … I guess the stomp is just an exercise in building components of what they will have to build.
Lack of presets, no midi .. in 2023 .. just makes no sense for live .. for the studio I have the real thing ..

From what Ive listened to them I am pretty impressed by the uad amp pedals. Obviously if you play with the amp in the same room the whole interaction and all that comes with it is lost. What heard from users is that the consistency and recall ability is amazing and saves a lot of studio time when you don’t need to work with the amps and miking. I can see that being a huge benefit. I mean… my amps will already sound different after a coffee break 🤣, never less trying punch in something a day later.

I mean… my amps will already sound different after a coffee break 🤣, never less trying punch in something a day later. If the guitar is just a background element, the dream is fine. If it's a featured instruments or the main instrument to me it just doesn't cut it. My main amp is a Princeton Brownface, and when recording, I just plug my strat into it, miced with an SM7, RE16 or a Coles/AEA into a Coil CA70 and that's it, I barely every touch it when it's time to mix. This is what it sounds like: productionsimpossiblerecords.bandcamp.com/track/the-rogue-waves-surfer-from-hellYou can also hear it here in my Coil tests realgearonline.com/post/335191/threadIt's nothing particularly special but I like it and it works for a lot of the music I do. We're working on a new release with the surf band and due to a busy schedule, I tried recording with the Dream because the only time I had to record was late at night and blasting my amp was out of the question. Anyway, it just didn't work out, my guitar sounded too thin, and I had to add compression and tape saturation to get something that sounded similar, but then I lost a lot of the articulation. I can get my amp to sound bright and agressive but not spikey, the Dream can sound darker and harsher at the same time it's hard to explain, also the sweet spot is a lot smaller. I know I'm comparing 2 totally different circuits but I have played a lot of real Deluxes and there's a weight under the pick when playing the real thing, particularly when playing high up on the neck, it feels solid, and I never get that feeling with sims. I've tried a lot of amp sims, Kemper, Iridium, I've had 2 Iso cabs, I find they all lack something compared to my real rig. I will say, the Dream is still the one that feels the most amp like and once eqed, compressed, taped and reverberated can sound awfully close in a lot of situations.

Thanks for that. I was eyeing the Voxy one. It would have to beat the Iridium which to be honest might not be all that difficult.
Cheers, Geoff

The load box part of the OX was cr*p. So with decent load box like the Suhr reactive load that offers a DI out could you then use this Ox Stomp to get a better version of an Ox Box? Someone once said that the OX was UA's stealing Two-Notes work and passing it off as their own, and that the Two Notes engineering and subsequent improvements far surpasses the OX. Not me, but I heard someone say it . . .

Instead they put the time and effort into building a better sounding box.

Dream 65 is as close to a Deluxe Reverb as you can get with a modeler.

I like my OX Box. Can't say I thought it sounds inferior to the Two Notes ones I've used. I just wish Universal Audio would add a few cabs. Especially bass cabs. Paging Drew @ UA on that one.
This OX pedal doesn't make sense to me. But that probably means it's not for me
