Seeing these discounted Carbons that don’t include an Ultimate license and wondering how it would perform with Studio (aka Pro Tools Vanilla). It shipped with Pro Tools Studio originally. They subsequently gave away an additional PT Ultimate license to all Carbon users and finally switched to bundling only the Ultimate license. I'll let others speculate as to why they may prefer the annual support fees for that version, but yes, Carbon works fully under PT Studio.

A big time software exec put it to me this way “ eventually all software will either be subscription or free, you don’t own it and there will be no illusion otherwise.” Even the enhanced version of the crappy Thiele Small speaker design app I keep on my phone is subscription. I use it for quick design ideas or like the other day to show putting a greenback in an old Randell cabinet wouldn’t have the LF that the current Eminance has. After a conversation with the developer I decided that I would rather bank the $5.99 a month to purchase the next copy of the discontinued linear Leap that his the used market. We really, really need to support the one guy software developers who are willing to take risks so they can grow enough that a health issue or retirement doesn’t end a good product & so my apt isn’t full of old computers running legacy orphaned applications.
