Drew what's the latest on getting the Pre-UA microphones repaired? Just for example... Would your repair people work on my (latest version) U195 then? Since they're basically the same. Thanks, Chris

I have a pic of the U195 and the 187 on the insides next to each other, looks to be the same mic. I can never post pics on this forum. Wish I could share it, but for reason it just seems that things that are made previous to 2000 just sound better to me. Not sure what you call that? Vintage? Lol My understanding is the 187 is a rebranded U195 and the 167 is a rebranded U99. I didn't really listen to the 187, because its not a mic I'm really interested in. I liked the different modes of the 167. I imagine it is pretty versatile. The high roll-off mode sounded like I wanted it to sound, very U67ish. It's just a bit more expensive than I wish it were, but it's exactly where the U99 was. I also have to mention that neither the 187 or 167 have a slanted grill, which does contribute to the sound of the actual U67 and U87. I have always liked the Bock 251 sound. The female vocal sounded gorgeous on the new UA 251. I wasn't a huge fan of the male vocal on any of these.

IMHO the grill design "thing" is dependent on the individual voice.
With the general overall tone, the biggest factor. But it still has some bearing. Chris

UA uses an ECC85 in the UA Bock 251. I am not sure what this means in terms of audio, longevity, noise, replacement, etc. It might be a really good choice. I just do not know.

Paul G. has a pair of Bock 251's. Maybe he'll see this. Chris

It’s an ECC85 in my Bock 251 which was built late 2021.

I have GE 5* 6201’s which sound great. They were only about £20 each but they’re creeping up.

I’ve always wanted to save for a Bock 251 - it’s a great mic. It’s a shame he sold his company. Perhaps when I’m ready, I’ll find one a good one second hand

AEA and Soyuz do such a good job with demos.
This isn’t that hard. I’m not sure why these shops dunk on themselves.

I bet if you buy 6 x UA Bock 251's (one for each tom of an "LA" studio drumkit) .... they'll convene a focus group to put together a loyalty offer - might be a free T-Shirt

I heard they had a thief at the T-Shirt factory. And he's still at Large. Chris
