You can usually buy great tube mics without power supplies for ridiculous prices from many drug addicts who have just raided some poor, nearby studio.
The flip side of that is that many studios have extra PSU's and cables!

I have seen Apex 460's without power supplies at local pawn shops. The theft aspect didn't occur to me.... These guys have pretty good upgrade kits, and whole mic kits if you're so inclined. microphone-parts.com/ |

Yeah it sounds great without power if your on crack. |
