The routing is OK, the line level I/O is all -10 unbalanced, sonics are blah. This era and family of Tascam is the definition of pro-Sumer. I grew up on the Model 3, 35 and 308, other than routing my next board a Tangent 2402 was a huge step up, then I moved up to a Soundcraft 200B Sweep EQ ( still have a soft spot in my heart for 200B sweep EQ’s). The other thing is Tascam’s first quiet board was the 2600. I know there is this entire hipster hype around the revolution of old Tascam, it’s funny how everyone I find has never used a real board, you have to remember these are the things that made the original Mackie sell like aspirin.

That’s great information. My interest is really in routing. Currently hitting hardware and summing back in but I’m really pulled to have my dynamics as inserts and the ability to group post-fader. If the A+H Zeds had group sends I’d be all over it. The Alices that have been talked about here are very attractive: would a Soundcraft get me there? And is there an SC with a small footprint? And thanks- P

Soundcraft 200B looks like a viable option, thank you!

My first mixer starting out. Pretty not great sounding, as Eric has said, kinda fun for a special effect at best, but the opposite of "punchy."

Soundcraft 200B looks like a viable option, thank you! If I was currently in the market for a small mixer I would look at the rack mount APB Dynasonics or Crest X20RM.
