That is all. I'd probably still stick with my current MOTU based setup, but c'mon AVID... can't you at least try harder to tempt me?

Epic fail on the part of AVID web design... product info is so difficult to figure out.

yeah the Carbon Pre. But It's still kind of lame IMO. Only 8ch of I/O in a 1 u rack, i mean comon.
I'd hope something big is coming since they just axed the Avid HD converters. But the only way to get lots of avid IO now might just be the Avid Matrix/AX32. Which is cool and all but my god it's pricey.

Although even then I hate paying for pre-amps I'm never going to use. A 16x16 line level expansion would be seriously tempting. The biggest thing that's always kept me away from PT Native is the issue with Native delay compensation for hardware. Studio One just does this so well. Seems like Carbon has that solved.

Although there's still the problem of only having one ethernet jack on my Mac Mini M1 and needing that for other stuff. My understanding is that Carbon doesn't work with Ethernet hubs. Could be wrong on that point.

You can connect up to two Carbon Pres to a Carbon set up giving you 24 I/O. You need to plug your carbon directly into the Mac due to the AVB setup. You can get a usb-c dock of some kind with a second Ethernet Jack for other things. That’s what I’m doing. I’m using an OWC dock.
I agree about the pre part. I wish it were a 16 I/O without the preamps.

fwiw, I use a Ferrofish pulse 16 connected to my Carbon via the adat connections. Gives me 24 I/o in 2 rack spaces, works and sounds great!

Could be wrong on that point. I run the Carbon off a TB2>ethernet dongle, my control surface off a USB3>ethernet adaptor and wired LAN off the ethernet port on a CalDigit TB2 hub. Been running 16 in x 26 out at 96k with a MOTU 16A on the adat ports, but looking to add the Carbon Pre to get to 16 channels of Carbon 32 bit converters.

Been running 16 in x 26 out at 96k with a MOTU 16A on the adat ports, but looking to add the Carbon Pre to get to 16 channels of Carbon 32 bit converters. I’ve gotten so hooked on my 24AO that I can’t live without a lot of I/O now. I’ve got a super efficient patching system. Current I/O setup not including monitoring… MOTU 828es (using line 6 outs and 8 ins) UA 4-710 via ADAT (use all 8 ins sometimes bypassing pre sometimes not) Cranborne 500ADAT (all 8 I/O all the time) 24 AO via AVB (16 out wired straight to RND Orbit, 4 more used all the time, 4 flex) So I’ve got 32x48 (not including monitoring) right now of which 30x42 are wired in for every project. For my current setup I could dell my 828es do one Carbon and Carbon Pre. And replicate my I/O perfectly. Ok. That’s good. For $10k. [faints]
