Diode Bridge compressors are pretty colorful. The Audioscape and Chandler are probably more colorful than the RND, which has more color than the Buzz from what I can gather.
I'm biased as I have the RND 5254, but I'm sure many of the options available sound quite good.

I was actually looking at the Heritage Successor before I bought the SSL G Comp, but I felt the G Comp might be better as an alternative to the 2500 for either drums or mix than the Successor. The RND 535 seems great too, but the Successor is much cheaper than a pair and has actual attack and release controls. The Successor does seem like a nice piece.

I can confirm that you’ll really enjoy the RND 542’s. Excellent boxes

ADR (or Q2) Compex. Lots of character and can be snappy or saturated, depending on how you set it.
I didn't notice any Vari Mu or tube gear on your list.... the Chandler RS124 is very colorful. Its a vibe box through and through.

Silver Bullet would take out the API and NEve options you are looking for in one foul swoop.

Don’t get a 3 space 500 rack. Just get a full rack with room to grow.
Also, check out the weight tank compressors if looking at non-500 series.

For analog boxtone with controllable harmonics and saturation, I highly recommend you check out Hendyamps - The Oven and Michelangelo. I believe you will thank me later.

I see Hendy Amps has an oven, grille, stove and cooker. (I am not making this up!) hendyamps.com/studio-gearThey are all really expensive. (The Collins is less expensive than the aforesaid.) But the oven is available in hardware and as a plugin. (The plugin is expensive for a plugin!) Interesting times. Maybe I will wait for Hendy Amps to come our with an affordable microwave!

I looked at the Hendyamps stuff as well. Probably amazing. One should hope it would be because it is pricey.

Anyone like the Chandler TG Opto? Listened to some clips and sounds great. Any other comparable (function and price) units for single channel character comps? Obviously LA-2a stuff aside Some of those Hendy units are stupid expensive!! I could buy at least 3 or 4 other great pieces of gear for one of those, if not more! Don’t ignore the Tegeler Vocal Leveler 500. Tremendous bang for the buck. Also the ACME XLA-500. I found the Chandler Opto 500 to be very versatile, just more expensive than the above comps.
