I just noticed Beesneez has a 20% discount on his clone series BU47. It uses a NOS 6205 mini tube. Same tube used in some of the GrooveTube mics and the old M-audio sputnik. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this mic. How it mighht compare to other U47 clones out there. US price is about $1770 which includes shipping and the 20% discount. It uses his k7 capsule and comes with a swivel mount but no shock mount. link

I'd love to try one of these as I really love the sound of the Tribute 1! Between my experience with the Tribute 1 and Klaus' high praise for Ben's M7, my expectations for the BU47 are really high!

My mistake. It's his K7 capsule in the BU47. Not sure the difference between the T1 and the BU47.

For what it's worth, I have the Arabella which also has their K7 capsule and it sounds pretty damn nice.

My mistake. It's his K7 capsule in the BU47. Not sure the difference between the T1 and the BU47. I asked Ben earlier today... Besides the EF12 tube in the Tribute 1 and the 6205 tube in the BU47, the Tribute 1 grill also has hand-lay mesh and completely non-resonant.

Ben's K7 capsule is absolutely top notch. It hangs against a Thiersch Red no problem. I have both and they are equally great. I've also thought of buying some of his mics. The shipping thing always kind of put me off a bit. Ben's on the other side of the world. If I lived in Australia, I think I'd have at least tried all his mics. I have a lot of respect for him.
BTW: I also have one of his M7 capsules. The K7 was far superior IMHO.

Still no resolution on my BU67 despite repeated promises from Ben. Be cautious of after sale support.

The BU47 has a beautiful hefty body and the K7 really sounds great. I also have an M7 Arabella and it sounds quite different. Both have high quality bodies. I find it hard not to like them both. If someone had both of these mics with a K7 I would be interested in knowing how different they might sound.

Does the BU47 get you in that U47 ballpark or sound signature?

I don't believe Ben lied when he created the BU47 i.e. that it is a 47 style mic. In terms of the overall package I think it's a way better deal than many mass produced clones that are available. I don't have access to a Flea or Wunder to compare those with it. The circuit and tube combination alone might start WWIII about it not being a direct copy.
Fyi - There are or were two different power supplies offered with these previously, I paid a bit more to get the Beesneez one.
It's always difficult to gauge the kind of sound people want from a 47 clone. If you have doubts or questions Ben usually answers the phone if you call. This being my experience at least the few times I called and asked some questions.

Typically Beesneez mics will work across the range with the same powersupply afaik. That's a great thing. The generic supply I was offered previously makes the BU47 sound a bit different according to Ben. I wanted the Beesneez one for longevity/reliability and the ability to swap it with the one I already had and as such I was happy to pay a bit more for that possibility.

Still no resolution on my BU67 despite repeated promises from Ben. Be cautious of after sale support. Yeah, not all I've heard is good, including failing capsules. I wouldn't buy another Beesneez mic, ever. I had such a bad experience. I owned a Arabella, upgraded to a T1 and I owned 2 Judas Ribbons. Attempting to get in contact with Ben was a complete nightmare. I can't remember what the problem was with my Arabellla... but I remember sending it back, maybe twice ? and it was taking so long... in the end I just upgraded to the T1 as it was supposedly not far away...Anyways much later I finally the T1 there was delay after delay ( an associate ordered one at the same as me and his and mine eventually arrived at the same time) As soon as I plugged it in it didn't sound right at all. I got in contact with the associate and his was doing the same thing.. back it went to Ben, much waiting, eventually it was a miss made capsule....actually I remember not being able to get in touch with Ben for so long, and actually ringing David Royer, and he helped me trouble shoot the mic, what a nice guy....so much for QA eh? I remember sending ben 500 dollars when his daughter was ill. I remember attempting to contact him, and getting radio silence... in fact I remember sending an email... saying I wanted to purchase another mic, it was the only way I could get him to talk with me. I have spoken with quite a few people who have have similar experiences.... get a mic, it works don't need anything (Like the JUDAS ribbons I had) and its fine... you try and get something fixed.. its a different story... In the end when I finally got the T1 back, working,..... I sold it and the two ribbons... as I couldn't bear to look at the logos anymore...I had had enough... I never got the promised Lulu fet either... no big loss... be wary. I am sure a number of people have had success with the Brand... I am just not one of them. Cheers Wiz (since this is negative I am not going to hide behind a nick name.. my name is Peter Knight and I live in Bundaberg Queensland Australia)

To think your only 7 hours away from Ben as well. Their communication skills are seriously lacking. That's for sure. While I did get my BU67 in a timely manner. There was a point when my order went through and there was no shipping information. Had I not contacted them they might not have sent my mic out. The BU47 is tempting at the current price but don't know if any unforseen headaches are worth it. Lucky my BU67 works and sounds great.

Very brave Peter very brave. When Ben first started out there was a lot of people supporting Bens products, myself included and really hoping he would have great success, due to the initial story behind the start of his business. And that is a great heart felt story. Just remember for an Australian to come out on a global platform and say something from there own personal experience with another boutique Ausralian manufacture is no small feat. Wiz would have thought long and hard about sharing this info from his personal experience. I live about 2 x hours away from Ben. And I too have supported and owned many Beesneez mics over the years both new and second hand. But I have nothing extra to add here.
