Have we heard a version without any of the mastering processing?

Is there a reason you wouldn’t want to spend $40-50 bucks to get a decent mastering job done after you’ve put so much effort? Doesn’t seem to make sense to do an ‘at home fake master’ after this much time and energy. Just not really sustainable. It's not the money it's the time. I pay to get any serious releases mastered (just used Greg Calbi for a project I released a few months ago) but I don't consider this an official release. I want to be able to crank these out and, believe it or not, this really hasn't been a lot of time or energy. A fair degree of obsession, sure... but that's par for the course! Total tracking time on this song was probably like 2 hours? Mixing more than usual cuz I'm trying to get a baseline for the "flavor" I want for the next few months. Plan is to put out at least one per month. Again, not the money it's the time.

Have we heard a version without any of the mastering processing? These don't have any mastering. Just the standard mix bus I mix into. It's fairly simple... everything get's summed in RND Orbit, then sent into SB, and then into Creme. That's it. I'm one of those that I guess you call top-down?

I missed the voting, but I just checked these out. C is my fav. B is my second fav. A and D are overcooked to me, particularly in the highs, especially A. C sounds closest to natural and what I would want this track to come across like. I'm just not into a big, aggressive highs push, on anything, but especially on a track like this. I'm feeling that. It's a bit crisp for my taste as well just overall.

Late to the party but I thought A. had the best feel overall. Wasn't sure if is going to be mastered so I am judging on these are final masters. Yes A it is overly bright but the bottom end is the best of the 3. The kick and bass are more present in the mix. I could use even more. The other 3 mixes are lacking kick and bass. A. could be warmed up by pulling some high end harshness or pulling back on whatever is causing it. They all need some tweaks. B is too dark for me.

1. This track and your performance of it are fantastic. Love it. 2. Like most others I preferred B by a healthy margin. This definitely sounds and feels of another era, and expensive at that. 3. What were your SB settings on B?
Keep it up! Shaun

What were your SB settings on B? Keep it up! Shaun Thanks! I really appreciate that. The SB settings on Mix B are super simple. All buttons in. Mojo knobs both at 9 and 2 o clock. EQ knobs both at 2 o’clock. I push the input so it peaks at pink but stays mostly blue.

Mix B has the best balance, but it lacks some of the smoother, bassy qualities I like in Mix A. I've done this myself where I overdid Fusion's bass. I would go back to your Mix A and just back off whatever settings are making it a little too compressed sounding. In my experience using Fusion for the last few months, I've never been able to get plugins to provide the fullness and smoothness that it does. At this point, I think using some kinda hardware is a must.
