Is really flippin good. Not as squeaky clean as DRC, but does a nice clean dynamic range control with a bit more texture. Liking it a lot.

It's just dirtier than all three of my leveler/limiter 2 detectors with 1 vca: Kotelnikov GE, Powair, and MDWDRC2. That gui is horrible.
This is a weird plug. The main RMS is pretty clean but can get zippy. The fast RMS is dirty unlike MDWDRC2 where they're both clean. This doesn't raise the room like MDWDRC2 or keep the room down like Kotelnikov, or let you control it like Powair. Peak stop is almost identical to Powair's Punch slider. People made fun of MDWDRC2's gui but this can't be folded in half or shrunk down without it becoming illegible. The VCA distortion barely does anything until it clips. Kotelnikov's color options are more subtle and Powair's saturation sounds huge.

I saw that one today as well and was giving it a look over. I really don't need any more compressors. I'm usually using Kotelnikov GE on master bus, but sometimes I'm looking for a little more color. Sometimes I will use The Glue for that. I checked out the Lindell MBC in some review videos. First, Dom is quite the salesman. Not sure how he didn't hear the hardware being infinitely better, but I'm sure he's paid to say how great the plugins are. MDWDRC2 looks good but way more than I want to pay. Unisum is more twiddly than I care for. Some guys like endless options. I no longer do. I don't mind a super limited feature set. I guess that's why I don't use more DMG plugins. I have all the Track series but things like Limitless, have limitless possibilities. I want only a couple possibilities. If it doesn't do the trick quickly, I move on to something else. Back in the 80's I used to love working with additive synths; creating my own waveforms etc. At one point I had 13 synth and spent most of my days programming. Now, I guess I'm getting old. I just want to get to the finish line with the least amount of twiddling parameters that make very little logical sense. I'm still looking for a truly great sounding compressor with limited options, though I already own most everything. A hardware 1176 and LA2A on the way in goes very far to making something sound finished without having to use plugins heavy-handed. anyway... sorry to pull this off topic. I'll be curious to hear other people's thoughts on the Amek.

Seems like we're getting a ton of powerful, endlessly tweaky mastering compressors lately. I wouldn't mind giving this a spin, but I still need to try MDWDRC2, and I feel like I'm just now getting the hang of Unisum. mcirish I definitely agree that Unisum is super twiddly. I don't know what half the shit on there does, even with tooltips enabled. But it's really hard to make that thing sound bad. I kind of just turn knobs until I like what I hear. The presets are great, too — I usually don't go that route, but they really help in this case.

Great plugin, much better than MDWDRC2 and Kotelnikov.

Great plugin, much better than MDWDRC2 and Kotelnikov. LOL. Just messing with Dan. He'll read the post and start fuming. Seriously now, I like this PA plugin. I'll probably get it on the right sale. I haven't tried MDWDRC2 tho, but I'll do that when I get the courage to spend that money on another compressor. And Kotelnikov is great, everyone knows that.

Dirk is halfway there to a great new plug and another great new house. His “Amek” thing is pretty okay if you just use the slow rms on not fast timings and the peak to lessen the overshoots. The fast rms is bs and dirty so don’t touch it. The Plugin Alliance TMT and distortion is also all bs and should all be turned off. I’m not sure it’s worth 30 bucks but a ton of people just got it for free. Fuse and Klanghelm slow compressor plugins are 30 bucks without sound bad knobs.

I don't know if it's the Aurora N allowing me to hear better or whatnot, but oh man that TMT on the Black Box MS is horrible. The other day I spent a lot of time trying to remove this nasty distortion out of a track and then I took Dan's advice and just turned off TMT on the Black Box. Voila, distortion gone. That TMT was creating all kinds of problems. Just weird distortions and imaging that my previous interfaces didn't really dig up. So, I turned it off and everything is so much more balanced and clean. If I want Mojo, it's a lot better to add it with Satin, Dopamine, and then Fusion.
