Also there is a 2 part episode where he interviews Ted Fletcher (Episode 69 and 70) I think… I went deep on Teds interviews after buying a new Alice 828.

I'll gladly answer any questions that come up. In my experience our own Beard of Audio Knowledge is one of the best in these situations because the politics of the biz are ignored, he doesn’t give a shit about the BS and tells it as it is. While we never worked a session together I do know that what he says in an interview or lecture is exactly what he will tell you one on one. I can’t count the times I have seen this type of lecture or interview Where the story contradicts what others who where there have told me in private, what I remember from the sessions or what the presenter told me in private. Bob just tells you like it is.

Thanks! I've always thought the real story is usually lots better than the PR releases.

I'll gladly answer any questions that come up. Back in the 4 and 8 track days, how much mixing, bouncing down, and remixing with the bounces was typical? i understand they mixed the drums down to a mono track or stereo pair as they were being played but did they then remix that track, maybe overdub it, and bounce it out again? Some of Ringo’s drums don’t sound like drums and there are records like Fresh Cream, where I’ve read the instruments were recorded first, mixed and bounced to 1 track out of four, leaving the rest for vocals but the drums are fuzzy.

Thanks! I've always thought the real story is usually lots better than the PR releases. It is Bob, it’s funny because I will admit to holding back in interviews or if someone is recording, but as I get older, I find I’m more and more open, as I enter what will be the 25th year of press coverage I know I probably should be more careful with what I say but honestly don’t care as much about who I might offend.

Motown went straight from 3 to 8. Rhythm and solo horn went mono to one track, lead vocal and instruments went to the other two, the whole instrumental went to one track on the second machine carrying the lead track over. Backgrounds were recorded last to fill in the energy holes. A similar approach was used for 8-track. Maybe 5 generations of 3 and three generations of 8.
