I'm debating getting one of their 500 series racks and a Prometheus Pultec style EQ.
I would be grabbing gear from them as I can afford it, but it would maximize rack space to have at least one 500 series rack.
Anyone have experience with their stuff? I'm definitely intrigued by the idea of being able to control their stuff with plugins.

The Hyperion EQ I’ve wanted try for a while. Samples I’ve heard on kick seem to be pretty amazing. Surprisingly though, I chose the Warm Pultec over that though. The AwTAC Channel would be my ultimate kick EQ though.

I've had the Hyperion, Dione, and Prometheus, and I have their Super Carrier rack. The gear sounds great, but the best thing about it is the plugin integration and recall, which works flawlessly. Your analog gear recalls just as easily and effortlessly as a plugin. You can also write automation using the plugin. It's the kinda thing that makes you wonder why all hardware companies haven't gone this route.

I have the Dione in a Wes Audio Titan rack. Both are top notch. The Dione is surprisingly affordable for what it does.

The SSL bus comp is one of the better suited designs for recallable VCA control and the _dione executes it well. I like the lower THD setting usually on mix bus, gets it closest to the 4000 series tone, thought the high THD setting is cool on guitar bus or drum crush. The control plug-in is already M1 native, and they made 3 different skins for it to match the three different face plates they've put out.

I think I know the answer to this, but with the plugin, do you basically have the choice of grabbing the hardware OR using the plugin for dialing in the units?

FWIW I have a couple of the SuperCarrier II racks that I'm pretty happy with, and no issues to speak of. But obviously this doesn't tell anything about the ng500 experience.

I have the Prometheus Pultec style EQ. I love the digital recall and control. It's a nice piece, but I have no comparison other than plugins.

I have 2 full Titans and they are fantastic. There’s a 20% sale at the moment so it’s silly good value. It has always been completely reliable software wise and the modules are very well built. I use 2 Mimas on lead vocals they sound that good. Plus I use the Leveler for automation and thd. I can’t praise the company enough.

I actually love the idea of their ADA module (Calypso) that lets you pipe sound directly to the modules in the Titan rack via a single ADAT cable.
It seems like an incredibly elegant slick solution but I have no idea how good the converters might be?

I'm not usually into the boost/cut thing there. I like it though when it works. Sometimes just a touch on the 2bus to fill things out. Or 30hz on a bass to really get low. I just can't get real granular about it I guess...

Would be a good way to mix. The Calypso could be broken out to an analog patchbay too, it seems(with the DB25s on the front). However, I'd probably spend the money on another 8 analog I/O in the Aurora and use all 10 spaces on the Titan for modules other than conversion.

I've gone through a lot of 1176 boxes, including some really popular ones around here, and to my ear, the Wes Beta76 is just phenomenal. I believe the Mimas is a very similar circuit and also uses the Carnhill transformer; something I think is really adding to its unique sound.

That's interesting that they went with Carnhills...I wonder if they had Carnhill clone the old Melcors...or if it's Carnhill clones of Marinair radar stuff.

I think they may have just done their own thing and it sounds really great. Really thick and harmonically rich. I’ve owned A’s, D’s, and F’s and none have had the same character. It’s magic on vocals.

Now I'm more excited to eventually try them.

I would be curious how the Mimas compares to the Serpent Splice 500 units.

I feel like I'll do the Titan rack eventually. I'm not sure if I'll go Calypso with it or just into the Aurora. I have a Mimas here and it sounds phenomenal to me.
