FWIW, I see it for $174 and the SAVEONCAPITOL voucher brings it down to $100. Apply a couple of $25 vouchers and you're at the $50 you mention.

I've been considering the Pick 2. I'm debating how much I want the Hitsville Chamber as one of the two. I mean, I'm sure I would like Hitsville Chamber, at least for Motown specific vibes, but is anybody having success with it for anything that is NOT going for a sort of Motown vibe?

ahh.. just took a look and there's a $75 coupon for Capitol Chambers, and a Holiday $25 coupon. If I can use both of the coupons, then two plugs will cost me $49.
If that works, I'll go for it tomorrow.
Sidebar question, for tracking male lead vocals how does the 176 compare to the CL1b?

Hmm.. I demo'd the Tube Tech and the 176 to compare. If I listen in solo, the Tube Tech is cleaner, more transparent, which I usually prefer. You could say it sounds "better". But in a track, the 176 sits a little better and sounds more finished. It kind of de-esses little too.
With coupons, I can get both the Capitol Chambers and the 176 for $108. That a fantastic price, I still have to consider if I should buy any plug-ins at all because I need a new monitor and hard drive right now. I can get just the 176 for $75, but it seems ridiculous not to buy another plug-in for $50 more.
I do like the Capitol Chambers sound, but it seems like it might only work in an "Oldies" style, like a Sam Cooke track. I'm not sure if I'll really use it in general. I'll try it out tomorrow before the sale ends.
I'm curious if anyone here uses the Capitol Chambers plug regularly.
* I'm also considering selling my Stam Audio SA76 preamp and buying a hardware compressor mainly for tracking vocals. I'll most likely get either the Lin76 or the Lin2A. So the $108 could be put toward making up the difference between selling the Stam and getting a Lin Audio compressor.
Tricky decisions when you're scrounging for cash but need some gear..

okay, so i'm sold on Hitsville Chambers and I needed one more, so I'm going AMS RMX16. Tried the Zener limiter - it's cool but I dunno how excited I am about it. I don't know where I'd even use it. Not much else I don't have on UAD or comparable (softube, PA, Eventide, etc).
Hitsville I could see working for drums for some punk bands, tbh. I love the giant Albini-esque drums but not all bands I work with want that, nor is it always appropriate. Just sounds real to me. RMX16 just had some cool presets in there that I thought brought some things to the table I don't have.

Tricky decisions when you're scrounging for cash but need some gear.. I personally think it's a mistake to allocate the plugins to genres based on their history. Capitol Chambers and Hitsville Chambers are first class ambience processors whatever the genre, same goes for old plate reverbs. I mean, early 1980's digital reverbs were trying to emulate these old physical reverbs as digital emulations. I use Capitol regularly and also the Lexicon 224/480L and mix and match within a mix. If I could only afford one right now, personally Id go for the Hitsville Chambers - it really is superb and gets that well worn badge "now it sounds like a record" It blends with signal like no other artificial reverb I've ever used - it's flippin' superb. +1 on a tracking compressor for vocals, it does make a huge difference when you come to mix, any audio tracked with hardware compressor gets more action out of your plugins when you come to mix.

One discovery I have made during the UAD plugin sale is just how great Softube Control 1 is.
I decided to demo the up-dated UAD SSL and Neve 88RS MK2 channel strips and directly compared them to the Softube 1 SSL 4000 and 9000K channel strips and Neve strip (Brit Channel) and the Softube emulations sound every bit as good and passed a strict ABX test.
This is great news, as the Console 1 in Cubase works like a dream and makes for a fantastic workflow where as the UAD strips tend to get left unused in my plugin folder because I can't stand mousing around their complex multi knob/button GUI's!

Have any of you compared the Hitsville to the Capitol Chambers? I realize they're two different animals, but because the sale ends today, I have to make a choice and don't have enough time to really use the 14 day demo period.
I'm mainly interested if one of these offers something I can't get from my other reverbs. I have the Ocean Way, Liquid Sonics 7th Heaven, Relab LX480, UAD EMT-140, Exponential Phoenix Verb, Excalibur, Sound Toys Little Plate, Valhalla Super Massive, Logic's reverbs, and I''m probably forgetting one or two.

Martin, I've listened to some of your music and I think you'd be thrilled with the Hitsville Chambers - they are really stunning and very unique and very different to the algorithmic reverbs you listed. Their ability to blend with the source is really stunning imho. Bob O and UAD did a truly incredible job (same for the Motown EQ) Talk about an iconic sound. I put the two Hitsville plugins on the vocal of an old song as a bit of a remix project and it was a very definite .... WOW!!

I had to update, but finally got the Hitsville plug-in working. The Capitol Chambers sounds good, works normally, but the Hitsville plug is doing something strange. If I put it on a bus, it works normally, but if I put it on one track, the slightest amount of the Mix knob, positioned even less than zero gives me a ton of reverb. Only the slightest turn of that knob gets me a normal amount of reverb, like .02 % of the 100% available.
I think I'm leaning toward the Capitol Chambers, but since I already have so many reverbs, I think I'll take a look around to see if there's some other plug I might have overlooked that can give me something I don't already have before closing on the 2 for $149 bundle with two $25 coupons ..
I haven't used Luna yet, but the API Vision plug looks interesting..

I bought the Fairchild collection for $31 - down about $150 because of all the coupons again. End of year coupon, thank you coupon. extra black friday coupon they they issued, and the collection discount. It appears to be obvious that UAD is doing what they can to lower the prices at this time. A smart move on their part.
I am not sure if the Fairchild collection qualifies as a second pick for that discount.
