Right, makes sense. Seems totally reasonable (before engineer). Actually, that's a pretty good deal if you ask me. IME, that's an insanely GREAT price. Too bad you're not closer to me. LOL. Is the market really that competitive in NVille? I don't see how studio's can stay alive at those rates. But MORE POWER TO YOU!!!! Very nice environment to make a record. Yeah, much crappier studio here in Austin advertises $450/day with no engineer. That's just one I happen to know the non-engineer price for. For $300/day plus engineer I'd consider throwing down a weekend just so I don't have to track myself... if I wasn't a million miles from Nashville.

I think the MOST expensive room in town is $400/day (no engineer). But I can book some really great spots for as low as $200…I lived here for 5 years, and coming from LA I’m still amazed. Goodness gracious. What kind of places can you get for $200/day? Almost makes flying to Portland for a weekend tempting. Could be fun actually. Different environment, different players, different vibe... Three days plus a plane ticket for a grand? VERY tempting.

If Flora Recording is $400 a day I’d be shocked. Because the studio is north of Nashville that deters some clients who don’t want to drive 30-45 minutes each way (experienced that this week so we worked at another studio) that keeps the price down…but I think once we finish the lounge and make a couple other upgrades (I need to suck it up and get a HDX card and maybe find a deal on a real B3, and a better headphone system beside the Headback rig) I’d like to bump it up to $400 a day (maybe with a small discount for multiple day bookings). Also if you are coming from out of town hotels and air B&B are 75% cheaper by the studio compared to Nashville proper…you can save a lot of money 😆 But if I raised rate honestly it be so I could afford an assistant. Setting up and tearing down and labeling headphone boxes is getting old 😂

Real B3 is a draw for sure.

I would definitely suggest adding a lightbox.js to your gallery so that people on tablet/desktop can see images in full screen. I was able to pinch in on my computer, but that's me.

Website and place is looking great! You’re chipping away much faster than I am! I don’t have anything anymore, still.
It’s interesting seeing all these comments on studio/engineer prices, traveling, etc. I’m long over trying to sell studio time in today’s world. It’s a lost cause for me. I couldn’t even get people to record in my SSL 6048E studio with a 700sq live room with 14ft ceiling and 2 large isos for $40/hr. with me engineering. I’m not sure there was ever any outside engineer that could handle the room even when they swore up and down they could. I was their free assistant, charging them $20/hr. for the room.
To those who know me or their friends, if asked, I’m $25/hr. to anywhere or $80/hr. (it goes down a lot when some real time for the project) with the SSL Duality studio I helped build from the ground-up for 4-years on a friend’s home property. There’s 100 mics, 30 vintage analog keys, 30 vintage amps, and 30 vintage guitars.
I’d much rather a total amount or executive produce, with cool things with cool people, but it seems no one likes the idea. Also, it seems anyone with any kind of budget has a producer that spends a day or two in a decent studio and then does everything at home themselves. They pocket most 95% of the budget to live on until their next project.
